It's late July and everyone is preparing to go back to school. A new semester means new classes and new adventures. Yet no college experience is complete without a new show to binge watch. Whether you're relaxing in your dorm for a quiet weekend in or neglecting all responsibility and watching Netflix instead of doing your homework, there's an array of great shows to catch your attention. If you're looking for a new show to watch this semester, here's a list of some of my favorites.
1. Grey's Anatomy
I know this is a super popular show and many people have already seen it. However, I am aware that not everyone has seen this fabulous show. I, for one, did not start watching Grey's Anatomy until last fall. This show generates a lot of buzz (and Odyssey articles) and I promise it lives up to the hype. After all, what could be better than love triangles, intense situations, and brain surgery?
2. How I Met Your Mother
Ok, this is another show that's been on for a while. In fact, the series has already wrapped up. Lucky for you Netflix has all the seasons, which means you don't need to go through the hiatus like everyone else did.
3. Friends
Alright, this show is a classic. Even though a majority of people have already seen this hit 90's sitcom, it's a great show to rematch from beginning to end. I guarantee there is at least one episode you won't remember seeing.
4. The Office
This show is AMAZING. Seriously. You need to watch it. Just make sure you're choosing the U.S. series and not the U.K. one.
5. Psych
If you enjoy comedy and crime shows, then this is definitely a must watch. If you liked the series Monk, then Psych is a good show to follow up with. It's funny, witty, and actually quite entertaining.
6. Criminal Minds
I'm not gonna lie, this show can get gruesome at times. However, it's a must watch for anyone who enjoys crime shows with a more psychological side. This show has it all, guys.
7. New Girl
Join Jessica Day and her friends as they all navigate life and relationships. Honestly, this show is hilarious and extremely relatable.
8. Gilmore Girls
This show is getting a reboot this fall, which means you have no time to waste in catching up with the rest of the Gilmore Girls crowd. This show is heartwarming, frustrating, and overall just really really great. I haven't seen every episode myself, so this is definitely on my "binge watch" list.
9. The Walking Dead
I personally haven't seen this show because it's just a bit too gruesome for me. However, I have met many people who really enjoy this show and my family is obsessed with it. This shows catches the attention of all age groups, which means it can probably become a great family event to binge watch it together.
10. Sherlock
This show is slightly newer than some of the above shows. I love this show. It's gripping, exciting, and completely ingenious. Plus, it's a Sherlock Holmes show created by BBC (which means it's guaranteed to be great). I should warn you though, this show has extremely short seasons and an extremely long hiatus. But if you're looking for a "shorter" series to binge watch, this is one for you.
11. Doctor Who
This is yet another BBC show that has a ton of fans. It's definitely meant for a more nerdy audience, but I promise it is worthy of your binge-watch list. This show is an emotional roller coaster, so be prepared.
12. Parks and Recreation
Yet another hilarious comedy show. This one mimics The Office in it's use of "documentary style" shooting. Yet no matter who you are, Leslie Knope will always be someone you quote in daily life. Not to mention Ron Swanson and the rest of the parks department.
Have a great semester and happy binge-watching friends!
