12 Reasons Why Lilo And Stitch Is Underrated

Lilo and Stitch could possibly be one of the most underrated Disney films. While Frozen receives praise for being a story about two sisters who learn to love each other and grow as people. Lilo and Stitch is the original love story between sisters. Nani and Lilo are a beautiful example of sister's love for each other.

1. Serious character development of Stitch.

Stitch starts out as an angry and uncontrollable and throughout the movie he grows to learn and love. At the end, he would do whatever it takes to protect Lilo and her family, who becomes his.

2. This is not a love story.

This story is not about love. It is about family. While David does pursue Nani, this is not the focus of the film. The film focuses on friendship and family.

3. Nani transitions from a sister to a parent.

After the death of her parents, Nani has to transition from a sister role to a parent role for Lilo. Nani does everything she can to keep Lilo safe and at home.

4. Lilo's struggle to be accepted by her peers.

Most young people struggle to find a group where they belong. Lilo is no exception; she struggles with bullies like Myrtle and acts out because of her frustrations.

5. David always helps Nani out.

David is clearly in love with Nani, but understands that Lilo is the number one priority. He goes out of his way to help her find a job; and who can forget about the beach scene where he saves Lilo's life after helping them have a beautiful day together.

6. The music is phenomenal.

Throughout the film the music is great. It fits the setting and has a sing along island vibe.

7. Lilo isn't a princess, she's a Hawaiian girl.

Lilo isn't a Disney princess, she's simply a young girl trying to find her way with the loss of her parents and the fight to stay with her sister.

8. Overcoming the tragedy of losing both parents at a young age.

While many Disney characters have suffered the loss of a parent or of both, Lilo and Nani suffered the death of both leaving them alone. They have had to work to keep a loving relationship and stay together without the social worker taking Lilo away.

9. Elvis as an idle for stitch. #yes

The fact that Lilo chooses Elvis as idle for Stitch is just great. She takes her love for the king and his music to help Stitch become a well mannered citizen. It helps add to the setting and to the great music in the film.

10. Nani appreciation again for working hard finding a job, doing everything to keep her sister at home and give her the best life.

Just take a minute to appreciate everything that Nani did and was working to do. She searched everywhere to find a job to support Lilo, she let Lilo get a dog to bring her happiness. All the while having to deal with her parents death on her own. You're lying if you say you didn't tear up during the hammock scene.

11. Nani is not stick skinny.

Nani isn't your typical super skinny Disney female. She's a gorgeous full figured character. This makes her more relatable and realistic.

12. Stitch was made to heal, not destroy.

Lilo means broken in Hawaiian and Stitch sews the broken family back together. Ohana.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
