12 Reasons Grandparents Are Gifts From Above

God couldn't be everywhere, so He gave us grandparents.

12 Reasons Grandparents Are Gifts From Above

I think I speak for us all when I say grandparents are Heaven’s greatest gifts. Grandparents are there to pick you up when you fall, make sure you are always fed, and to spoil you to the point you question whether or not you are actual royalty. They are almost like second parents, and you love them just as much (after all, your parents do come from them). I remember picnics with my Mammaw on her front patio, and weekly McDonald's dates with my Pappaw after school. I remember their words of "make wise choices" and "I love you." I remember seeing their smiling faces in the crowd of all my events and their ability to drop everything to make my happy. I've learned to appreciate life beyond measure because of them and in them i've seen a most amazing love story. To celebrate them as their 60th anniversary approaches, here are just a few reasons why grandparents are the absolute best!

1. They always look forward to hearing from you.

Calls from you make their week, and they aren't afraid to admit it. It definitely makes you feel loved and important.

2. They tell some super cool stories.

They've lived through some pretty intense moments in history, and they don't mind telling you about every little detail. They are like your own personal history book, but much cooler!

3. They feed you like the broke, starving college kid you are.

On top of that, there food is made with love and it's delicious! Nothing compared to that awful dining hall food or cups of ramen you've been living off of for weeks.

4. They have the ability to make you laugh almost instantly.

Especially when trying to figure out technology.

5. They gave you your parents.

Even though you and your parents might not always see eye to eye, your parents are still a gift from god...and your grandparents. Plus, your grandparents taught them all of the things they are now teaching you.

6. They NEVER forget your birthday.

And they make you feel like a queen/king for it too!

7. They send you cards for every occasion (yes, even Halloween).

Nothing makes me happier than getting a card in the mail.

8. They give the best advice.

And yes, you are as great as they say you are.

9. They make us want to be better.

If I am half the woman my Mammaw is, I'd be happy.

10. They spoil us without fail.

And you appreciate every second of it.

11. They prove to you soulmates exist.

Your grandparents are the ultimate proof that love exists and that it can last.

12. They show us what it means to love and be loved.

No love is greater than that of a grandparent and a grandchild.

And I'll leave you with this: God couldn't be everywhere, so He gave us grandparents.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
