Guy best friends are some of the best friends a girl will ever have. They're a lot different than girl friends, which helps to bring balance to your life. Having a guy best friend, or multiple, is seriously a blessing. No matter how many girl friends you may have, sometimes you just need to be one of the bros for a day.
1. They never judge you for your eating habits.
You can fearlessly shove your face full of food in front of guy friends and not have to worry about how disgusting you look with food hanging out of your mouth. Sometimes they even encourage your eating habits by hitting you up for a Chipotle date or by chanting "Taco Bell! Taco Bell! Taco Bell!" from the backseat of your car.
2. They're straight forward.
No matter what, your guy friend will tell it like it is. If the guy you like doesn't like you, if you're being a brat for no reason, if you're being a doormat for people, if your jokes aren't funny, if you look bad in the outfit you're wearing or if you're being super passive aggressive, they tell it like it is and always do it with love.
3. You have an automatic date to anything.
This one may backfire and everyone will assume you're actually dating, but it's worth it because you never have to worry about being dateless to an event or third wheeling with other couples if you have your guy BFF around. You might also get to tag along to some cool banquets and events with them every once in a while.
4. You can wear what you want.
Guys really do not care what you're wearing. I can go out in a huge t-shirt and pajama shorts and they literally would not notice the difference between that and if I spent two hours picking out the perfect outfit.
5. Wing. Man.
At the bar, at a party, or just in life in general - you can be sure that your guy best friend is always looking out for your love life. He'll be sure that the guy he sets you up with meets not only your standards, but also his. In turn, you get to (try to) set him up with all of your friends he thinks are hot.
6. You get to see a side to them that nobody else does.
Guys are always tough and fun around each other, which is fine, but when you sit down and have a talk with your guy best friend you know that the sweet caring guy will show up to truly take the time to talk to you about whatever may be on your mind. They also confide in you things they wouldn't tell the bros.
7. They take care of you, no matter what.
They will pretend to be your boyfriend if a creepy guy is hitting on you, will literally drag you away from a party to make sure you got home safe, will make sure the guy who broke your heart gets what he deserves and will always have your best interest in mind.
8. There's always friendly banter.
You can always joke around with your best guy friend and not have to worry about hurting their feelings. You probably have mean nicknames for each other and crack jokes about the other on the regular, and it's perfectly acceptable.
9. They always have pockets.
Seriously, this is such an underrated perk. All you have to do is ask and your phone, keys, wallet, etc. are safe for the night. Sometimes, they'll even take your phone and hold onto it without asking because they know you'll have a better night without it.
10. They don't question you.
I know that if something is wrong and I don't want to talk about it, my guy friends will respect that and let me lay in their floor watching them play video games spontaneously crying as long as I need to. Sometimes they even have ice cream.
11. You have your own personal body guard.
Hearing your guy friend tell you that you're his best friend and nobody will ever mess with you is nice. You know that no matter who or what hurts you, you have someone to take care of it. Also, it's kinda cool showing up places with a big guy by your side ready to take on anyone who messes with you.
12. You get sincere compliments, they just come out a little weird.
"You look like you actually took time to get ready today," or "you're wearing makeup.....but I kinda like it better when you don't" are their way of showering you with compliments, and in my opinion, are some of the best.
