Being a tour guide at the University of Kentucky has been one of the most fun parts of my college experience. The people I work with are awesome and meeting students and families is always a ton of fun. But the job also comes with its quirks: being a tour guide means you have to know a ton of useless information.
This means not only could you navigate someone to the nearest dining hall in a foreign language while blindfolded, but you could also talk about next year's admissions deadline while getting there. Just when you think you know it all, someone will ask a question that proves otherwise.
With that in mind, here's just a few questions every campus tour guide has heard more than once:
1. "Where's the bookstore?"
2. "What's the party scene like on campus?"
3. "Why didn't you go to (insert rival school here)?"
4. "Where will my son's classes be if he's a nursing major with minors in economics and Chinese language?"
5. "What's one thing you hate about your school?"
6. "My daughter has a 33 on the ACT and she's second in her class. Isn't that great?"
7. "But how long will it take me to walk to class every day?"
8. "Do you think we could get in-state tuition?"
9. "Are you dating anyone?"
10. "So what are your plans after graduation?"
11. "How's the food on campus?"
12. And the worst question ever: no questions at all.
