With the end of the year coming up and the stress of finals looming, it's all too easy to fall into a slump of negativity. Sometimes it seems like on even the most sunshiniest of days, a cloud of gray is hanging over your head. When you feel like you're starting to fizzle out and it becomes difficult to stay positive, take a second to breathe. There are so many little things you can do that will boost your mood and make you smile. So grab your friends, some good music and try some of these out!
1. Looking at pictures of puppies
If you can't have one in your dorm room, the next best thing is to find adorable pictures and videos. There are so many social media accounts that feature a variety of these tail-wagging, butt-wiggling cuties, and I guarantee you won't be able to keep the smile off your face once you follow them.
2. Cuddling with fuzzy blankets
Warm, soft and cozy. What more could you ask for to brighten your day?
3. Ordering takeout
I know college students don't usually have extra cash laying around, but scraping the bottom of your purse or drawer for extra change is well worth it in exchange for your favorite takeout order.
4. Sitting outside in the sunshine
Step outside of the library and soak up some vitamin D. The sun hasn't been out all winter, so take advantage of the nice weather and get a head start on your tan!
5. Painting your nails
Pick up a bright new color or use one of your favorite shades. Whatever you decide, you'll be sure to smile every time you look down at your hands.
6. Going for a drive
Turn up the radio, roll down the windows and take off. Sometimes all you need is a mindless drive to relax and de-stress.
7. Calling your mom
Your mom knows all. You can vent to her, cry, yell or just talk, and I guarantee at the end of all that, you'll feel much better.
8. Eating ice cream
Load it up with toppings, drizzle it with syrup or just eat it plain. Anyway you take it, this sweet treat is sure to bring out some positive vibes, especially for your taste buds.
9. Going online shopping
Put together some new outfits, switch your style up, add way too many cute tops to your cart. Even if you don't buy anything, it's still fun to check out what your favorite stores have to offer.
10. Ryan Reynolds
If he doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will.
11. Singing along to your favorite songs
Turn your speakers all the way up, put on your favorite song and grab the nearest hairbrush. Who cares who can hear you? You're too busy putting on your own personal concert!
12. Flopping into bed
Sometimes all you need is your bed, a pillow and a nap to change your mood from negative to positive.
If you start feeling blue, take a break from studying and try these little tips to brighten up your day. All it takes is a little change and a little positivity to turn your frown upside down and make you feel better.
