12 Life Lessons Learned From New Girl

New Girl is what you should live your life by, trust me.

12 Life Lessons Learned From New Girl

Okay, so I will admit it, I am obsessed with New Girl. Jess is probably my favorite person in the entire world. Sometimes I love her and want to be like her, and other times I do not know how everyone puts up with her. With her being so important in my life, I have learned many things from her and the whole gang. I would say that these lessons are life lessons that I could not live without.

1. You always have to pay when you are a douche bag

As a part of the show, you are supposed to put a dollar in the jar when you are being a douche bag. But in real life, you do not physically pay a dollar, you pay it in what happens to you after the fact of you being a douche bag. You can not blame someone else for your own actions, whether they are god or bad.

2. It is okay to be crazy

Just like Jess, everyone is a little crazy inside, and it is perfectly okay. Everyone is crazy in a different way. For me, it is using weird voices at weird times. No one should be afraid to show them true selves, even if they are a little crazy.

3. Honesty is key

Yes this one is very stereotypical, but it is true. You always need to be honest with yourself and those around you. Without honesty, you will never know what those around you are thinking about, whether it be about you or something else. Honesty is what friendship is built around.

4. You should have friends that will do anything with you, no questions asked

Whether it be going out at midnight to get Taco Bell, or in an extreme case, having to go into the ocean to get a lion fish, your friends should always be right by your side. They are the ones that should be helping you in any situation.

5. You should see your friends as family

Your friends should be your family, just the ones that you got to choose. They should be there in any situation that takes place, just like your mom or dad would be. Some of your friends might not even have family, and it is your place to fill that spot.

.

6. Marry your best friend

Whether you find your best friend first, then you marry them, or your partner becomes your best friend, it is always important to marry your best friend. By marrying your best friend, it allows you to always feel comfortable with them which will create a happy marriage. Obviously you worked as best friends, why not take it to the next step?

7. Your friends should accept you for you

As you make good and bad decisions in your life, these decisions are what makes you, you. It is the job of your friends to accept these decisions as you. If your friends don't accept you for you, or add to the craziness of you, they are not your true friends.

8. If a friend is in need, always be there to help them

Your friends should be the ones to know when you need help. It is their job to make you feel better, whether that be to dress up as Elvis at your father's wedding or to take you out for ice cream after your boyfriend broke up with you.

9. Do what you love

Different things make different people happy. For me it is dancing to any song that comes on the radio, for Jess it is crafting and singing. Without finding the passion in your life, you will not get everything out of life that there is to get out.

10. Your style is what describes you

Your outfit is always the first thing that anyone will see when they first see you. It is the way to express yourself to anyone and everyone. Even if you just wear jeans and a t-shirt, you are showing the world the real you.

11. Sometimes you just need to rock it out, even if you're a bad dancer

I consider myself a dad dancer. I have all the moves that a dad would bring out at a wedding, but I do not care because I love to dance. Dancing allows for a stress relief and to just have plain fun. Don't be afraid to get out on the dance floor.

12. Everyone needs friends like the New Girl group

It doesn't matter if your friend group is all girls, all guys or a mixture, it is important just to have that group. These are your people. You tell them everything, and they tell you everything. They are the ones to save you from your problems and how to make new ones. Everyone just needs the group.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
