1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

Those days when nothing seems to be going your way, just think of all you have to be grateful for. I promise more is going right than wrong.

2. Life is too short not to enjoy it.

Wake up every day with a smile on your face and realize God has you here today for a reason. Life really is too short, so make the most of it. Never go to sleep holding a grudge, and tell the people you love that you love them.

3. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will.

Yes, college is about academics and getting that degree, but make the best of friends and keep in touch with your family. They're going to be the ones who are there for you in the end.

4. Don’t buy stuff you don’t need.

Really, though. Going out and shopping is nice and getting packages in the mail is great, but don't buy stuff you don't really need. It's on sale, but do you really need it? Clutter gets us nothing but stress.

5. You don’t have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.

Just because someone has a different opinion than you doesn't mean you have to change yours or alter your values to parallel theirs. Stay true to yourself and what you believe in.

6. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.

We're human. We all cry. Make a friend who will cry with you. Those are the best kind of friends. I promise you'll need it sooner or later.

7. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

Yeah, sometimes things don't go our way and we wonder why God would let such things happen. It's perfectly okay to question and get upset. God knows the trials we are going to face and "If He brings us to it, He'll bring us through it". He is All-Knowing and All-Powerful.

8. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.

Do not dwell on your past. Whether it be past relationships, grades, or mistakes, move on. The past is history and all you can do now is learn from it. There is no good in worrying and stressing about the past. Look ahead and build off it and make the most of the present. Live in the moment.

9. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

Be proud of who you are and never wish you were like someone else. Take part in what you are passionate about even if it isn't mainstream or "cool." Be yourself, the right people will love you for exactly who you are.

10. It’s never too late to be happy. But it’s all up to you and no one else.

Free your heart from hatred and free your head from worries. Embrace what brings you joy and do more of what makes you happy. Other people can help, but at the end of the day, you choose whether or not to be happy.

11. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.

Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. Don't be afraid to go after the things you love.

12. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

Lastly and most importantly, life is a priceless gift, so enjoy every moment of it, and realize that you don't get a second chance.

Love people unconditionally and never EVER look down upon someone, unless you're lending a hand to help them up.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
