Oh Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday. I love the food, atmosphere, and sometimes even the family. College students coming home for Thanksgiving can often expect an influx of questions about their school work and love life. While this can get annoying, it is important to realize they only care about you (well, some of them), and you should consider them in your thoughts when you think of all the things for which you have to be grateful. Here are some things that inevitably happen when you go home for Thanksgiving with a little help from our Oscar-dominator Meryl Streep.
1. They will ask you how college is going.
College is the last thing you want to talk about. Don't blame them, that is probably just a go to question when they haven't seen you in a year.
2. Where's your significant other?
Whether you are taken or single this question will always be awkward.
3. Your family will use you as a waiter.
Because that's what young people are for, according to grandma.

4. Your mom will go back into full-on protection mode.
This will happen even though you've been keeping yourself safe on your own, on at least a moderate level, for the past year.
5. But then you'll see the pie.
Yes, real unpackaged food!
6. They will probably judge your major.
"You're only taking 18 hours? When I was in college I took 21 all while working 40 hours a week and graduating a year early with two degrees!" Cool.
7. Your parents will question your social activities.
"No ,mom, I don't have time to go out. I just stay in and study!" Actually that isn't even sarcasm because college is hard.
8. You'll reunite with your childhood pets.
There is absolutely nothing better than cuddling up with your fuzzy pet and telling them all your problems.
9. The food will be worth dealing with your crazy relatives.
We all have them.
10. You will accidentally let out that you do not, in fact, love your mother's cranberry sauce.
Never have, never will.
11. When you're done eating you will look in the mirror and find you are four months pregnant with turkey.
It's still worth it.
12. Finally, you will leave and strut back to your fabulous college life.
Despite all of these things, I really do look forward to going home for the holidays and spending time with my family. Happy Thanksgiving!
