I know the whole education aspect of college is the most important, but girls let’s admit it, getting the opportunity to gain our freedom from our parents and decorate our own rooms how we want is what we look forward to the most. Here are 12 essentials when it comes to decorating your dorm room.
A Keurig- If you weren’t a fan of coffee in high school, say hello to your new best friend, your Keurig! Yes, caffeine is a drug and coffee taste like poo, but you’re going to need lots of it to get through the all-nighters, study sessions, and 8 a.m’s. So stock up on them cups and get that creamer girl.
Tapestry- Wow you’re so zen, Namaste. But really, tapestries bring life to any dorm. You can choose from a neat mandala pattern to a print that looks like you’re laying on the beach. Get yourself a tapestry before you get toilet paper, trust me it's that important.
Mini fridge- duh where else are you gonna hide your alcohol?
Lights- don’t settle for that ugly, mental institute looking lighting in your room, warm it up with some hanging lights. Even cheap Christmas lights will turn your room into a warm, cozy getaway.
Posters/pictures- yeah a collage of memories with your closest friends and family are cool, but a poster of Ryan Gosling’s hot body never hurt nobody.
Rug- unless you enjoy stepping on ice-cubes first thing in the morning, do yourself a favor and get an area rug. Plus, they make your dorm room extra cozy.
Blankets- they not only add character to your room, but when the brutal winter hits, they become a necessity.
Body pillow- Yeah its fun to cuddle with the cute boy across the hall, but whenever the body heat of two people builds up in a twin XL bed, you might burn to death. You’re better off getting a body pillow instead, plus they don’t mess with your feelings!
Curtains- if you’re like any other normal human being, you like sleeping in the dark. A good pair of curtains will block out that pesky glare from the street lights, plus the cheap provided blinds are a total damper on your new aesthetic atmosphere.
Makeup holder- No you don’t have to be a makeup guru to have one of these. Fun fact: your desk is actually there to study and do homework on, not to sprawl out all your palettes and bronzers. Get organized girl.
Over the door shoe rack- not only can you put shoes in there but you can put hair appliances, soaps, basically anything in an organized fashion.
Fan- not only does it block out the sound of your annoying roommates, but to have some ventilation in your tiny cell you call “home” is necessary, especially during the late summer heat.
