I'm a morning person, I admit it. I seem to have gotten that recessive gene that makes me love the sunrise. In a family of late-risers, I usually was one of the first people awake. Though I have had to adjust my sleep schedule, I am usually up relatively early compared to my college compatriots. Being an early bird is definitely a less common occurrence in college, but we do exist! Being in the minority, we often get to experience a few different things in college than our night owl counterparts.
1. We get to see the sun rise.
Okay, it's not the most original thing on the list, but if you live in a mountain town like Dahlonega, the sunrises can be gorgeous.
2. We get our exercise done in the morning.
Working out actually wakes us up even more and gets us alert and ready for class. Plus we don't have to exercise in the evening, giving us more time to study, do homework, or hang out with friends. Not to mention the gym is usually empty.
3. Infomercials are our morning entertainment.
There is nothing good on before 9:00am. We probably can guess the price of any item on sale and always know there is more.
4. You have mastered getting dressed in the dark.
We won't turn on the light knowing it would wake everyone else up.
5. Our mornings are usually coffee-free.
However, our evenings almost always require at least two cups of hot or iced coffee.
6. You are quieter than a ninja while trying not to wake up our roommates.
We are light on our feet. We turn the knob completely before opening or closing doors. We leave our drawers slightly open so others won't hear it when they close. You're welcome.
7. You can only stay awake through an action movie on movie night.
The explosions and bright flashes bringing out the adrenaline are the only way for us to stay awake through a film past 10:00pm. Watching a drama movie equals snoozeville.
8. Even if we stay up late, we wake up at the same time as usual.
So if you keep us up late or wake us up during the night, prepare to face our wrath. We will show no mercy.
9. Our alarms won't wake our roommates up.
Chances are that we will hit the alarm within 1.45 seconds of it going off or we will wake up before it and turn it off.
10. We look more put together in the morning.
Well, we do have more time to get ready.
11. 8:00am classes do not scare us.
I mean they start two to three hours after we get up. Get on our level, college.
12. We are a beam of sunshine amidst the grogginess and crankiness of the non-morning people.
We are fully awake and alert. We are happy people in the morning. We are the ones that will pleasantly say, "Good Morning!"
