It's fairly normal to hear the phrase "That's awkward" in a conversation. I myself experience at least 10 awkward moments throughout a normal day, and I know I'm not the only one. From falling up the stairs to accidentally flashing your Spongebob underwear, the cringe-worthy moments are endless.
Here are 13 awkward life moments I'm sure we can all relate to.
1. Falling but pretending you didn't.
Nobody saw that, what are you talking about?
2. Waving at someone you think you know but you don't.
We've all done this. You're walking down the street or through campus and you wave vigorously at someone, only for them to look at you like you're a moron.
3. Saying 'bye' to someone only to realize you're going the same direction.
"Uh...hey again, stranger."
4. Not knowing which way to swerve.
You know when you're walking towards a person but don't know which way to turn in order to avoid a collision? Yeah, me too.
5. Having to ask someone to repeat what they just said.
Not only is it awkward, but it's embarrassing for everyone involved when you have to ask them to repeat what they said five times.
6. Not remembering an acquaintance's name.
There you are, ready to say hello, when you realize you have completely blanked on their name. It ends up coming out something like, "Hey...you."
7. Letting someone call you by the wrong name because it's too late to correct them.
I'm used to people mispronouncing my name, but there have been a few times where I've been called something completely off the wall. I once let an acquaintance think my name was Skylar for an entire summer before awkwardly correcting her.
8. Struggling to contribute to the conversation but you keep being interrupted.
Oh, I'm sorry...did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours? Excuse me for being so rude.
9. Being the last person to get the roster and having no idea what to do with it.
Sitting there awkwardly in the back of the room having a mini anxiety attack about what to do...
10. Awkwardly standing outside a circle because there's no room for you.
Yep...I'll just stand out here...like an idiot.
11. When you're daydreaming and someone thinks you're staring at them.
Actually I was lost in my head thinking about what I'd be eating for lunch, but hey.
12. When you're being sarcastic and people think you're being serious.
The look people give you when your sarcasm goes straight over their head. No I'm not stupid; apparently I'm just too good at being subtle.
13. Reaching to pet an animal but it runs away from you.
This is the saddest thing ever, but so awkward when there's an audience.14. Accepting a compliment that wasn't meant for you.
Literally so painful.
15. Accidentally speaking at the same time as someone else...continuously.
"You go first. No, you go first. OK, somebody needs to just go. Now."
