I have always had an affinity for vocabulary and grammar. I've noticed, more and more, that our generation has found itself in a rut using the same few words to describe things: “very cool," or “oh, awesome!" and worse, “that's interesting."

I am absolutely guilty of perpetuating this habit. The goal of my article is to increase your awareness of word choice and to broaden your mind. Even if you only remember one of these words and use it for only a week, you will still spread knowledge to those around you. To some, it may sound like a ninth grade vocabulary book, but my hope is that it inspires a few souls out there. Here are some words that can be easily woven into everyday conversation by millennials. Best of luck with your word choices!

1. Ineffable: (adj.) too great or extreme to be expressed or described in words.
2. Gallivant: (v.) go around from one place to another in the pursuit of pleasure or entertainment.
3. Worthy: (adj.) deserving effort, attention, or respect.
4. Poignant: (adj.) evoking a keen sense of sadness or regret.
5. Absurd: (adj.) wildly unreasonable, illogical, or inappropriate.
6. Equanimity: (n.) mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation.
7. Mellifluous: (adj.) pleasant to hear; (of a voice or words) sweet or musical
8. Ephemeral: (adj.) lasting for a very short time.
9. Inculcate: (v.) instill (an attitude, idea, or habit) by persistent instruction.
10. Winsome: (adj.) attractive or appealing in appearance or character.
11. Altruistic: (adj.) showing a disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of others.
