Although it can be hard, everyone deserves to love their body this summer! Here are some tips to help yourself love the skin your in...

1. Soak up the sun

Your body LOVES vitamin D so don't be afraid to get some sun this summer! Remember that sunscreen is your best friend while you're outside and that burning your skin can do long term damage. The best way to love the skin your in is to take good care of it

2. Fruit, fruit, fruit!

There’s no better season for fruit than summer. Whether its watermelon on the beach or a smoothie at a picnic your body is going to LOVE the fuel you're giving it. Summer is the best time to throw fruits in with veggies and give your body the extra boost it needs.

3. Embrace your beach body

EVERYONE’S body is a beach body. Look away from the photoshopped girls in the magazines and look into the mirror, the more you embrace every bit of your body the sooner you realize your body deserves to be on the beach!

4. Walk wherever you can

Fresh air is extremely important for a healthy body and a healthy mind. Spring and summer are the best times to be outside and just breathe, so if you can get there without a car, walk!

5. Splurge on clothes

Summer in college is for making money, we all know that. But when you look in your bank account and are proud of how much you saved, don't be afraid to treat yourself to nice clothes that compliment your body!

6. Use positive language

With a lot of skin exposed during summer it’s easy to criticize. Realize that your body is a gift and don't speak of it negatively. (This also includes not speaking of other people’s bodies negatively!)

7. Put away the scale

This may be a tip for all year long… that number on the scale means nothing! If you are treating your body with love and respect then you should love the way you look and no number can measure that

8. Water is your friend

Whether you're swimming in it or drinking it, we love water during the summer. Staying hydrated when its so hot out is very important so don’t stop drinking water!

9. Don’t forget to sleep!

It’s hard in the summer to fit in work and seeing your friends while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. There’s always another party or bonfire or late night shift that you push your body to get through (nobody wants FOMO), but don’t forget that your body NEEDS sleep!

10. Listen to your body

When your body tells you you've had enough, listen to it. Whether its sun, alcohol or even working, your body can only handle so much. Love your body and it will love you back. So don't forget to give yourself a break this summer

11. Fall in love with yourself

And finally love your whole self. A healthy mind and a healthy body are extremely important and your body deserves proper maintenance. Make sure this summer to take good care of yourself while loving who you are

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
