As winter break comes to a close, a bittersweet feeling is all around. For a college student, this marks the beginning of a new semester. New classes, homework, activities, and early mornings are back, making us wish for more weeks of break and the comfort of our own beds. Although a new semester is supposed to be a new beginning, it can be hard to get back into a routine after so many mornings of sleeping in. A new semester can bring dread and despair because that means that break is over, and although you can't wait to go back to school and see all of your friends, the amount of homework that you know is coming and the early mornings is enough to give you nightmares. Everyone wants to start off the new semester well, but some don't know where to start.
1. Don't stay up too late
It's just going to make it harder to wake up for your 8 a.m. class.
2. Have all of your stuff ready the night before
That way, you can catch those few extra minutes of sleep that would have otherwise been used getting your backpack ready and picking out your outfit.
3. Have a cup of coffee
You know you'll need the caffeine to make it through the day.
4. Pack a few snacks, especially if you don't have time for breakfast
This will help wake you up and focus for your classes. Plus, you won't have to listen to your growling stomach while your professor is taking attendance.
5. Get a planner to help stay organized
The first week of class is syllabus week. As soon as you get your assignments, write them down in your planner in order to stay organized and ahead.
6. Hang out with your friends
It has been way too long since you've seen them.
7. Join a new club
There are tons of organizations and activities on campus to try out and join. You'll be getting involved in campus life and meeting new people at the same time!
8. Bond with your roommate
Whether you've known them for only a semester or 8 semesters, take some time to hang out with him or her. It'll make your living arrangements much easier in the long run.
9. Call your parents
They'll most likely miss you after having you home for three weeks straight.
10. Get a job
Look around for on-campus jobs. A lot of places are usually looking for the extra help, and it's a great way to earn some extra money.
11. Enjoy yourself
If you thought last semester flew by, this semester is going to go by even faster. College only happens once, so make the most of it while you can.
