Throughout your life, there will always be people who are less fortunate than yourself. During the holiday season, it is important to give back to those in need. Here are some easy ways to give back to others during the holiday season.
1. Volunteer. Donating your time and volunteering for local soup kitchens, organizations, or foundations during the holiday season is an easy way to give back to those in need.
2. Donate toys and clothing. During the holiday season, go through your closet and give away clothing that you have grown out of or that you no longer like. There are usually local organizations that will take those donations and use them to help keep other's warm during the holiday season.
3. Give money to church or small organization. Churches often collect money during mass to give to various local organizations. Give a few spare dollars away to help the cause.
4. Fundraise. Start a local fundraiser to help a local organization that does not get a lot of attention.
5. Donate spare change to change collectors outside stores. Outside stores and malls, people stand with bells and ring them to raise awareness and attention for local organizations. Donate your spare change to these organizations to help those in need.
6. Donate/roundup to food link at Wegmans. When cashing out at Wegmans, the cashiers often give the customer the opportunity to donate either $1, $3, or $5 to Foodlink. Also, the customer is given the opportunity to round up to the nearest dollar. Every penny donated counts!
7. Do something to make someone smile. Even though you aren't giving money, doing something to make someone smile or happy can change the way someone's day or even week is going. Spreading happiness during the holiday season is just as important.
8. Donate canned goods to a local food bank. A huge way to help those locally is to donate to the food bank to help families supply a meal for their families.
9. Pay for someones coffee who is behind you in the drive-thru. Spending an extra $2 or $3 at the coffee shop can easily brighten someone's day.
10. Donate blood. There are always people who are struggling to stay alive and make it through the holiday season. Save a life and give the gift of blood.
11. Over-tip someone. During the holiday's, many people are struggling to make ends meet. Giving a few extra dollars as a tip is an easy way to help someone out.
