Summer is a great time to relax and take a break from responsibilities like schoolwork and classes. However, after two weeks of doing absolutely nothing, you can start to get bored. Netflix is only satisfying for so long. So here is a list of ways to cure your summer boredom without breaking your bank account.
1. Read a book or two.
Summer is great time to knock out some books on your reading list. It's a great way to relax inside on a rainy, summer afternoon or to chill outside in shade. Reading is also a great way to keep your mind sharp while school isn't in session. So pull up a lawn chair and crack open a good book for fun.
2. Take a walk.
It's gorgeous outside! If you're tired of being cooped up in the house, grab a friend, your dog or both and go for a walk around your neighborhood. Walking is a great form of exercise and can be fun with friends.
3. Do some crafting.
Last summer, I started painting canvases for fun and I really enjoyed it. I'm no Picasso, but they turned out really cute and I had a great time doing them. Pinterest has plenty of ideas you can use as starting points if you need help coming up with something. And if painting isn't for you, find a crafting project that is. Crafting is an excellent outlet and a great way to cure boredom.
4. Find a project.
This one goes along with crafting, but find a project you can do. It can be crafting. However, it can also be as simple as organizing and redecorating your room. Last summer I started redoing some old furniture in my house and repurposing it. It kept me busy and turned out really well.
5. Have a night under the stars.
Get some friends together and have an evening under the stars. Lay out some blankets in the yard and just hang out. Play some cool music and have yummy snacks. Enjoy what nature has to offer.
6. Volunteer.
If you're finding that your summer is a bummer, take some time to give back to your community. Find somewhere in your community that you can lend a hand. That way your free time can count for something.
7. Have a picnic.
It may sound lame, but get your friends or family together and have a picnic. Make some sandwiches and pack your favorite foods to take to the park, the lake, or even just your backyard. It'll be fun and it's a great activity for your whole family to enjoy.
8. Try out some yummy new recipes.
Everybody loves to eat! If you're bored this summer, why not try your hand at cooking? Try out a few recipes and have some friends over for a homecooked meal.
9. Watch the Fourth of July fireworks.
Celebrate our nation's birthday with friends and family by watching the fireworks in your town.
10. Have your own personal dance party.
You don't need tons of people to have a party. You can have your own! Just crank up your favorite tunes and jam out like nobody's watching.
11. Lie out by the pool.
It's summer. Though it might be cliche, there's no better way to spend the summer than by soaking in the sun by the pool.
