Duke constantly gets ripped on nationally for being "preppy" or "privileged." Maybe it's the castle-like buildings or the parking lots filled with BMWs that give the wrong impression. However, if you go to Duke then you understand that we are not a homogeneous species. Though we may all enjoy the occasional boat shoe, there are 11 types of people at Duke that we can all identify with. And, chances are, if you can't think of someone who matches this description then it is you.
Have Your Voice Heard: Become an Odyssey Creator
1. The Skinny Know-It-All
This condescending a**hole always thinks he knows all the answers, and he will be the first one to tell you if you are wrong about something. The worst part is, he is usually right.
2. The Magician
This person always seems like they have no idea what they are doing, at least until they get called on in class and sound like a rocket scientist. How can someone who is such a mess always seem to sweep in and save the day?
3. The Activist
4. The Basketball Groupie
Either this person really loves basketball, or they really love the players. You know what I mean.
5. The Time Traveler
The Time Traveler always starts a paper that is due at midnight an hour before and by some miracle of God finishes it on time. They are the master of procrastination, but apparently are even better at working under pressure.
6. The All Nighter
This person is always in the library all night for no apparent reason. They are the ultimate procrastinator who sends you Snapchats at 4 a.m. still at Perkins. What do you do during the day?
7. The Party Animal
8. The Bro
Yo, bro, you are like so tough and so frat in your pastel shorts. I wouldn't wanna cross you in fear of messing up your hundred dollar haircut.
9. The Try Hard
Always the first one to raise their hand in class. This is also the person who emails the entire class asking a question about the homework that is due in two weeks. Do less.
10. The Srat Star
These girls are always wearing their sorority letters and are likely to travel in loud, obnoxious groups. I'm curious: did you own any clothes before you joined?
