On January 24, ABC announced the nominees for the 2017 Academy Awards. Not unlike the time that Steve Harvey mistakenly read the wrong name at Miss Universe, ABC inaccurately included Tom Hanks in the list of nominees for Best Actor for his movie Sully. They also mistakenly replaced actual nominee Ruth Negga (Loving) for Best Actress, with Amy Adams for her role in Arrival. ABC issued statements apologizing for the mistakes, leaving both Hanks and Adams without Oscar nominations in the wake of the mix-up. Don't worry guys, we've all been there, too.

1. When you think someone's waving at you but they're actually waving at the person behind you.

2. Every time you go to advising and they crush all of your dreams.

3. When someone else takes the last piece of food you've been eyeing.

4. When the dryer tells you that your clothes are done but you take them out and they're damp.

5. When you think you've found a parking spot but it's actually taken by a small car.

6. When you think a guy is hitting on you but he's actually interested in your friend.

7. When the barista spells your name incredibly wrong on your Starbuck's order.

8. When the guy you're with calls you by his ex's name on accident.

9. When your weather app tells you it's not going to rain and then it pours.

10. When you think your computer is charged and you get to class and it's basically dead.

11. When you think you have money in your bank account and you only have $4.

12. When you remember that you're reading this article and that you too are also not getting nominated for an Oscar.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
