We've all been there. We've all thought it. Might as well admit it. Being tall is a blessing and a curse. Growing up I was always quite insecure about my height. I hated being taller than everyone, especially the boys. I strongly disliked tall jokes, and I got sick of being asked to reach for something on the top shelf. It took time, but I have come to love my height. It is a huge part of what makes me who I am. Plus, there are a lot of perks to being 5'10". Over the years I've learned how to take a joke, yet these are still thoughts I have all too often...
1. No I don't play basketball.
Or volleyball. Stop asking!
2. "You're too tall to wear heels."
Excuse me? Well, you're too short to wear flats. Lucky for you heels aren't comfortable or I'd proudly wear them every day.
3. Can short girls please stop dating tall guys?
There are only so many to go around.
4. When a potential date starts with 5' in a conversation.
In the words of Meghan Trainer, "Nah to the ah to the no, no, no."
5. Jeans are just NEVER long enough.
Or dresses, or long sleeves, or maxi dresses for that matter. Honestly, I only own capris.
6. "You have to do it because you're the only one tall enough."
Yeah, but I'm still lazy. I've decided that ladder might make nice Christmas gifts.
7. Friends who make us sit in the backseat of little cars aren't friends.
"Are you comfortable?" Oh yeah, my legs are digging into the seat in front of me, and my head is against the roof of the car. "Umm yeah, your roof is soft."
8. "Wow you're tall!"
Oh my goodness I hadn't noticed. P.S. Don't ask me how tall I am.
9. I really enjoy being compared to a giraffe.
I hear lions sleep 21 hours a day. Can I be a lion?
10. Crossing your legs at a desk takes real talent.
Can they make them in tall sizes?
11. "I'm sorry I see over the bathroom stall."
Can anyone say awkward?
But hey who can complain? At the end of the day being tall is pretty awesome!
