Sometimes focusing during class can be nearly impossible. As a million other things race through your mind of how you could be better spending your time, you realize only five minutes have gone by and you still have an hour to go. These 11 thoughts are sure to cross your mind at some point during class:

1. Being bored.

No matter how much you like the subject of the class, an hour in you find yourself extremely bored and counting down until it's time to leave.

2. Getting hungry.

You quickly realize you're hungry. No snacks with you, all you have on your mind is what you're going to eat for lunch later (and that you probably should've eaten breakfast).

3. Being completely lost.

Sometimes the teacher just completely confuses you. As you are sitting there staring at the board, you realize that you have no idea what you're even looking at- gibberish maybe? another language? You don't know, but you don't understand it that's for sure.

4. Sleep.

As the minutes slowly go by, you find yourself getting more and more tired- you even start to dose off. All you want right now is to crawl back into bed.

5. All the things you have to do later.

While you're contemplating whether to nap or eat after class, you come to the realization of all of the work you have to do tonight. The nap and food might have to wait-or the work might.

6. How much you dislike everyone.

Not liking anyone in your class doesn't make it any easier to get through. Everything that everyone does seems to just drive you insane and even worse, you have nobody to talk to so you can pass the time.

7. Coming to class.

Only a few minutes after you sit down, you wish you hadn't even come. And you still have so far left to go..

8. You forgot to do the homework.

You thought you came to class prepared, until you remember that you didn't do the homework that is due today--hopefully you can get it done before the end of class.

9. Entertainment.

You desperately need something to entertain yourself until class ends. You get on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, you text all your friends-whatever you can think of in order to distract yourself. Thank god for your phone, right?

10. Being annoyed.

Everything that everyone does drives you crazy: clicking their pens, chomping their gum, even just talking- it drives you up the wall.

11. When class is finally over.

The moment you've all been anxiously awaiting! Class is over and you get to leave!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
