Being a twin is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it's pretty cool to say you're a twin and it's pretty unique that you two share a certain bond. On the other hand, it's a curse. The stupid questions you are asked, the weird family traditions that are focused on you two and the crazy moments you two share are all a part of being a twin. Some things that all twins experience are:
1. Being Asked "Identical or Fraternal?"
The question every pair of twins is sick of hearing. Look at us. Do we look identical? Have you seen us? This is a question you can answer for yourselves, people!
2. Being Asked "Who's The Better Twin?"
What kind of question is this? A. It's a pretty rude question, B. there's no way to judge that and C. no twin is going to say they are the lesser twin. Jeez, does anyone get twins?
3. Your Mother Confuses You Two
So we look alike and sometimes act alike, but that's no excuse for poor parenting. We are both different in our own way, Mother! She's the one who got sent to the principal, not me. And no, we do not come to the table if you call us by our twin's name.
4. The Twin-Suites
Once in every twin's lifetime, they must wear a costume that shows the world they are twins (usually due to the clueless mother). Wearing the same dress for Easter, the same costume for Halloween or the same ugly Christmas sweater for the holidays, all twins go through this rite of passage to show the world that they are twins.
5. Performing Secret Twin Rituals
Whether it's your own unique language, a secret handshake or an inside joke from when you were infants, all twins seem to share something with each other that only applies to them. No one gets it and they look at you funny once you two twin out. But that's okay because no one else will understand like your other half.
6. Getting on Each Other's Nerves
Just because your twins doesn't mean you get along all the time. Like any brother or sister, they have their quirks and antics that drive you up the wall and make you want to scream deep inside. You can only do so much to restrain yourself from tackling them to the floor.
7. Sharing a Birthday
When it's your birthday, it's all about you, right? Wrong! When you're a twin, you have to share the most important day of the year with your twin. No matter what, it's a recipe for disaster. Both of you want a different theme, one of you gets more presents than the other, one of you invites someone the other doesn't like, etc. It's sometimes a nightmare trying to plan this day.
8. Causing Shenanigans
As a twin, you both have this urge to cause mischief. Whether it's pranking a sibling, bailing the other out or making a ruckus, you both are a dangerous duo when together. Your parents know the two of you are not to be trusted together.
9. "Twinning"
In every twin's lifetime, they experience a strange phenomenon called "twinning." Such an occurrence comes in many forms, from wearing the same outfit to saying the same thing at the same time or ordering the same exact thing at Dairy Queen. You both think it's kind of cute, but at the same time, it's pretty weird.
10. Twin Goalz
For some strange reason, every pair of twins have their own goals. Whether it's forming your own dance routine or being there for each other's weddings, all twins have a goal they set to make their twinship superior.
11. Being Friends From Birth
Despite how much your other half drives you crazy, at the end of the day, you are both in this crazy world together. You both knew what it was like growing up with your parents, going to the same school, and seeing the same people every day. You both can laugh about crazy high school memories or whatever your weird uncle did last family reunion. You are twins. You were born together, you grew up together and you stay together.
