Today is February 20th, 2017 and us students at Pace have a day off (about time because although it's barely a month into the semester, it feels as if this semester is already genuinely hell). Given that most of us Pace students are at the New York City campus, we have access to over 11 different trains within walking distance of our dorms -- which means that we could explore to nearly anywhere we wanted to within the boroughs, upstate, to New Jersey, or even out to Long Island. With that being said, here's a list of things to do on this day off in which we've all deserved.
Go to a museum that you haven't been to yet.
Most people go to the Museum of Modern Art, The Met, or even to the Guggenheim -- but why not go to a museum such as the New Museum or to the The Whitney.
Catch up on sleep -- or at least try to.
There's nothing better than waking up and feeling somewhat well rested. Chances are, you've already been swamped with work from your classes and either from work and or your extra curriculars, and haven't had much of a chance to sleep.
Explore a new neighborhood or part of New York/New Jersey.
With access to so many subway lines, Metro North, PATH, and the LIRR right at our fingertips, there's no reason to not get out of the dorms and see something new. There's so much to see with little to no time to begin with, so there's no reason to not try to make something work on this day off.
Go and try that new food that you've been dying to try...
...or have it delivered if possible. There's no reason to not try to make this happen. Chances are, trying this new food is something that's been on your bucket list for a little bit, and you have the time of day to try it out.
Do your laundry.
Don't sit around and pretend that the huge pile of dirty clothes in the corner of your room don't need to get cleaned at some point or another. As tempting as it may be to just go out and buy some new clothes just do avoid doing laundry, don't do that -- we're almost all broke college students. Do your bank account a favor and just do your laundry. The best part is, if you're living in the dorms, you don't even have to leave your building to go and do your laundry.
Catch up with your friends.
Chances are, you and your friends are bored and have some free time on your hands. There's nothing wrong with messaging them, calling them, or hanging out with them since you all have the time to do so.
If applicable, go and play in the snow.
It may or may not have snowed, but if it did, go out and play in it. You can be a five year old for a bit because chances are, you're already super stressed out from this semester.
Catch up on homework and readings.
It's not the time to be slacking off -- especially if most or all of your classes this semester are either super hard and or tedious.
Go see a movie or binge watch Netflix.
There's got to be at least one thing that you really want to see, regardless of if it's in a movie theater or right on your laptop/tablet/phone.
Clean your place up.
Even though it's a pain to do so, it's better than living in a complete mess. You never know what you may find when cleaning up, and also, you never know how dirty your place actually is regardless of the amount of times that you've told yourself that your place is super clean.
Run those errands that have been procrastinated for weeks by now.
The longer you wait to run your errands, the more of them you'll have to do -- and then you'll be stressed because there's so much to do in what seems like not a lot of time.
