1. Their closet is also your closet and vise versa.
This includes shoes, bathing suits and accessories. That cute new top you were planning on wearing first? Yeah, your sister already christened it and don’t expect to see that pair of earrings for a looonng time ‘cause she took ‘em to school with her. It’s both a blessing and a curse.
2. You have a built-in sister squad
Want to go to the movies but all your friends are busy? Have a boy problem? Need a tampon ASAP? Sister squad FTW. Bonus points if you color coordinate for your Christmas card every year and have a signature pose that you strike.
3. They have your back no matter what.
What they say about family is true; blood runs deep. You’re ready to pull a KarJenner move and light anyone’s ass on fire should they make the mistake of messing with your sister. They will also cover for you when you sneak out.
4. But they also give you the tough love that you sometimes need.
Nobody puts you in your place like a sister. When you’re being a bitch and it isn’t even your time of the month, you can expect them to call you out for it. That being said, they don’t sugarcoat things and will give advice to you straight because they want to see you succeed and always look your best.
5. They know the good, the bad and the ugly.
Your sister knows you at your best and your worst. They’ve seen you cry tears of joy and tears of sadness. They’ve heard you rant and rage on bad days and laugh and smile on the good ones.
6. Sisters know all of your embarrassing stories, your weird quirks and your Starbucks order.
Which also acts as leverage when they need a favor. On the plus side, they don’t judge you because they know what to expect.
7. Fights don’t last long.
Mainly because you live under the same roof so it’s hard to avoid each other. (Also because nobody wants to be in a fight with their sister...homegirl has too much dirt on you).
8. There’s nothing better than having them on your side.
Arguing with a parent is ten times more effective when your sister takes up arms with you because they know that parents sometimes “don’t get it.” And that’s the story of how my family got two dogs.
9. If they’re older, you have a role model.
Also they’re the guinea pig so they have to go through it all first. You look up to them to set an example and take note of anything that makes Mom and Dad mad so you can avoid making the same mistake.
10. If they’re younger, you get to show them the world.
And because they want to be ~just like you~ you can train them, spoil them and be there for all their milestones. Also you get to use the phrase, “I was Mom and Dad’s favorite first,” because it’s true. *hair flip*
11. They’re stuck with you forever.
And there's nothing they can do about it!!!! They’re your literal day ones, best friends and sisters all rolled into one package. You would be incomplete without them.
