Whether you have a large group of best friends or just a single best friend, we could all relate to some things that best friends do and go through together.

1. Having a best friend means that you always have someone to talk to.

Maybe something terrible happened to you today, or maybe you got a good grade on a test you studied hard for. Either way, all you want to do is tell your best friend the good or bad news so they can share in your excitement or console you.

2. Having a best friend means you have a ton of inside jokes and memories that no one else will understand.

You have jokes that just simply don't make sense to anyone else, or to be honest, it doesn't make sense to you guys either. I think the memories arise just because of how stupid the jokes may be, so you end up just laughing at the stupidity.

3. Having a best friend means that even after not seeing each other for a while, you can always jump right back into the laughs and sharing in old memories.

Especially after going away to college, it's hard to not see your best friend for a while. You start to think about the good times and dream about seeing your best friend again. Once you finally get together, it's like you guys were never apart. You fall right back into the cycle of telling bad jokes, laughing at each other when one of you does something stupid, and simply enjoying each other's company.

4. Having a best friend means you could be yourself without facing any judgment.

You could walk around in a giraffe onesie that you bought off of Amazon, and after laughing at you, they'll ask where you bought it so they could get a matching one. You could talk all day and night about the Jonas Brothers (even though you're almost 22-years-old) and they will listen to you instead of judging you for still liking a boy band who has broken up almost 4 years ago.

5. Having a best friend means you still have a blast just sitting in your pajamas watching movies all day while binging on Chinese food or pizza.

Some days (or every day) you just need to do absolutely nothing but watch the classic Disney Channel Original Movies while enjoying a feast of your favorite food in your pajamas. Sometimes you'll even prefer doing this instead of going out and getting drunk.

6. Having a best friend means their family becomes your second family, and vise versa.

By gaining a best friend, you gain another mother who will remind you to study for your test. You gain extra siblings who you love like your own blood-related sibling. You gain the love and attention of their pets, and might even have more pictures of their pets than your very own pets.

7. Having a best friend means there's no need for compliments, only endearing insults.

You don't need to pick up the phone and politely say, "Hello?" Instead, you answer the phone by saying, "Sup, bit*h?" Endearing insults are the ultimate compliment.

8. Having a best friend means you hate all of the same people.

It doesn't matter if you've never even met the person. If your best friend hates them, then you trust your best friend enough to hate that person as well.

9. Having a best friend means you will unconditionally support them.

It really doesn't matter what your best friend has done, because no matter what you will always stand by them and support them.

10. Having a best friend means their accomplishment is your accomplishment.

It's almost like you're their parent when they do something amazing with their life because of how proud you are of them. Your best friend got into their dream school? You better believe you'll saran wrap their car and put balloons everywhere. Your best friend got a job? You can guarantee you'll be celebrating by taking shots.

11. Having a best friend means you have someone to count on for absolutely anything.

If you need to rant, they'll be there. If you need to cry, they'll be there. If you need to go on a drive to blow off steam, they'll be there. And just like they're there for you, you will always be there for them.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
