What I’ve noticed is that when you’re in college, it can be hard to find time to update your Spotify playlist as often as before because you just don’t have time to find new music. My playlist is in need of updating and I can’t catch up with all the artists releasing new albums (like OneRepublic <3 <3 <3). Like why is it such a struggle? However, sometimes I’ll get an amazing song recommendation from a friend or I listen to Pandora once in awhile and find the gem of the month so I have a few songs I can recommend to my struggling friends. Not all of them are super new, but all of them are worth a listen!

1. “Starboy” by the Weeknd

You might have heard this one already, but if you haven’t, do it. I didn’t know what to expect when I first listened to it, but the beat is awesome to jam out to. Plus, you can see how different he looks without his signature hairstyle in the video.

2. “All Time Low” by Jon Bellion

This song is one of my favorites right now. It’s not brand new, but you might relate to it and it’s catchy as can be.

3. “This Town” by Niall Horan

I saw that this song was a solo song by Niall post 1D and automatically assumed it probably wasn’t going to be great. I was so wrong. This song is so adorable and will warm your little heart.

4. “Mercy” by Shawn Mendes

Anything created by Shawn Mendes is just going to make girls cry and want him. This song is no different, but if you’re looking for something to listen to while thinking of a person hurting you, this is it. And then go listen his whole album because it’s beautiful too.

5. “WILD” by Troye Sivan ft. Alessia Cara

If you haven’t heard of Troye Sivan yet, go listen to his album like right now. He’s perfect and has such a unique sound and voice. Plus, this song has the talented Alessia Cara so it’s extra amazing.

6. “Million Reasons” by Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga just blessed us with her new album and this is my favorite song from the album. It’s filled with emotion. It’s written beautifully. There is no reason to not listen to it.

7. “Drug Dealer” by Macklemore ft. Ariana Deboo

I love Macklemore because his music almost always has a message. This song is not an exception. It’s probably the newest song on this list and it’s deep.

8. “Better Than Yourself” by Lukas Graham

A lot of people probably know him for “7 Years”, but look further into his album and you find this beautiful song. You can hear Moonlight Sonata in the background and it really works.

9. “El Perdón” by Nicky Jam & Enrique Iglesias

If you appreciate Spanish music, this is a great song to listen to. This song really makes you want to dance and you get to enjoy the beautiful voice of Enrique. This song is probably the oldest on this list, but if you haven’t heard it yet, check it out.

10. “Hallelujah” by Pentatonix

This is the other brand new song. If you haven’t heard of Pentatonix yet, where have you been? Hallelujah has so many versions that sometimes you want to avoid trying to do a remake, but this one is gorgeous.

11. “In The Name of Love” by Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha

If you want to hear a song that makes you want to dance, but has some slightly sad lyrics, this one is for you. Bebe Rexha’s voice is flawless in this song. She is probably going to get extremely famous soon because she is so talented. Just take a listen.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
