The fall semester is definitely more exciting than the spring. You have football games and lots of breaks for all the holidays. But you also have homecoming, which means hours and hours of pomping, and that only gets more stressful when you throw in midterms and projects. So as fun as fall semester is, you’ll eventually hit a point where you’re so stressed that you just want it to be Christmas already. Here are some signs that you’ve hit that breaking point:
1. You can finally see the light at the end of the pomping tunnel.
It’s just a glimmer but it’s there. So close yet to far.
2. Scheduling your advising appointment becomes a life crisis.
Thinking about all the classes you need to take is just too much for you right now.
3. Your actual advising appointment is really a therapy session.
You rely on your advisor to direct you to the best professors and hope they’ll tell you that biology is just a misprint on your degree plan and you don’t really need to take it.
4. You’re convinced your professors all got together and scheduled everything for the same week.
5 tests, 2 projects, and 3 papers all due by Friday? K, cool.
5. The semester has gone by so fast that you realize you haven’t been home for a month.
You want to go see your family and friends in your hometown but the sad reality is you might have to wait until thanksgiving break.
6. When you leave for class it’s freezing and by the time you get out it’s warm.
It’s just hard to dress yourself when the seasons are changing. Also when you haven’t had time to do laundry, but we’ll just blame the seasons.
7. The thought of homecoming approaching has you stressed and excited at the same time.
You’re looking forward to the excitement of the big day, and all your hard work paying off, but you’re really looking forward to free- time.
8. You’re mentally preparing yourself for All Night Pomp.
For the next two weeks you’re going to get an extra hour of sleep a night, that’ll make up for the 24 for hours of pomping, right?
9. You’re scared to check your grades and your bank account.
Your summer job money is starting to run out and you haven’t had time to do extra credit yet.
10. You’ve gone broke from t-shirts.
Homecoming, game days, your sorority, fraternities, philanthropy events. Every t-shirt purchase is good idea in the moment but becomes a regret when you have no money left.
11. You can find a way for one failed test to ruin the course of your life.
“If I fail this test, then I fail this class, then I fail college, then I won’t get a job, then I won’t find a husband, then I won’t have any kids, then I’ll die alone”.
