11 Reasons Why The 90s Were The Best

Only 90s kids will understand...

It's often debated which decade is the best. Most people argue it's the 1960's or 1980's, but considering I didn't live through those years, and don't have a point of reference, I would say it's the 1990's. Not only that, but let's just take a look at everything that happened and came to be in that decade!

1. FASHION

If you're around my age, our wardrobes consisted of footie pajamas, Disney shirts, or those little jean overall sets from Baby Gap. For others, it was a much different story. Imagine swishing your way across campus in a windbreaker--cute, right? We can thank the 90s for grunge-y trends we still keep up today, a combo such as button-down flannel shirts paired with T-shirts underneath, ripped jeans and combat boots.

And we can't forget that the '90s were when the world was introduced to the ultimate fashion goddess, Carrie Bradshaw in "Sex and the City"!

2. MUSIC

Boy bands, B. Spears, The Spice Girls, and so much more....who were your favorites?

3. TV SHOWS

I still watch shows from the 90s. The sitcoms made you feel good afterwards and the dramas made you chuckle with their over-acting. The fashion was FABULOUS and the comedy was sillier, too. Also: SATURDAY CARTOONS!

4. MOVIES

5. GAMES AND TOYS

Before we had phones and computers, we had board games and squirt guns. Handheld games kept us occupied on long car trips. Definitely simpler times.

6. CELEBS

Boy bands galore! Scandalous government officials! And of course, WE, the future of the country, the 90's kids!

7. BOOKS

We can thank this decade for introducing us to "Harry Potter," "Perks of Being a Wallflower," and "A Series of Unfortunate Events," of course!

The coolest, yet weirdest, children had those bad boys above too.

8. TECHNOLOGY

In the time before iPhones and Androids, we had basic cell phones, HIT CLIPS! Gameboys and Tamagotchis...I wanted all of it and still secretly wish I had these things.

9. SCIENCE

I'm no science buff, but even I admit stuff was pretty cool. Like, cloning a sheep?? Space adventures?? WE NEED MORE OF THAT!!

10. HAIR

Popular hairdos included: The Rachel haircut, side ponytails, boys with middle parted long hair and boys with blonde hair that slightly resembles Ramen Noodles.

11. 90'S KIDS (we had it best)

And let's not forget, most of us were mere kids at some point during this decade. We could sleep in and watch Saturday morning cartoons in our footie pajamas. Our diets consisted of popsicles, capri sun juice pouches and Happy Meals on special occasions. WE HAD NAP TIME. Our biggest worries were whether or not we got the good crayons to color with or which movie to rent from the video store. We didn't have to study for exams or go to work after class. What a life!

IN SUMMARY:
The 90s. Were. Awesome.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
