11 Reasons We All Need Spring Break

Depressed because you just realized spring break is still two weeks away? Seeing all the fun Snapchats from your friends at other schools and secretly hating them? Don't worry, you're not alone. We're all ready for the beauty of a seven day break, and here are a few reasons why:

1. Midterms have burnt us out

We just passed the eighth week of classes, which means we are halfway done with the school year! But that also means most of us just suffered through three to four exams in one week. Nothing melts a brain like trying to memorize sociology terms and prep an outline for a history exam and understand the concept of statistics.

2. Surviving on less than five hours of sleep is tough

It's college. We don't sleep. Most of us have hit the breaking point in the semester, at which we need a break just to catch up on sleep. How are we going to pass any exam if we can't keep our eyes open during class?

3. You would think that the weekends would be relaxing … but they aren't

Weekends are just as busy as the weekdays. Whether it's your best friend's 21st birthday or you have a retreat for an organization, you've always got some type of commitment. With all those events, there isn't any time to do nothing. And do nothing is how we function.

4. It's time for a little separation from your roommates

As much as you love your roomies, you all probably need some "me" time. Especially if you're a freshman, you don't get a lot of privacy and spending so much time with one or two people in a small area can create some drama.

5. This mix of winter and summer temperatures needs to GTFO

I don't know about you guys, but I'm so sick of wearing shorts one day and my parka the next. This weather changes its mind more than when I'm picking out an outfit to go out in. Whether you are going to a beach or not, hopefully we'll escape the weather by staying indoors or relaxing in the sand.

6. Everyone is tired of hearing about your spring-break-body workout

We get it. You go to the gym. I don't want to see your weekly Instagram posts updating the world on how much muscle you've gained since you started working on your "spring break bod." Those have got to go.

7. It's time to treat yo'self

We've all spent these last eight weeks constantly studying and volunteering and socializing and exhausting all of our energy. If treating yo'self means having a margarita on the beach, treat yo'self. If treating yo'self means hiding in your room and watching six hours of "The Office," treat yo'self. Unfortunately, we have to wait two more weeks. *crying on the inside and the outside*

8. The suspense is killing us

We've been thinking about spring break since the end of last semester. That's three long months of torturing ourselves by thinking of how ~fun and flirty~ we are going to be wherever we are going. We really can't build it up that much more.

9. We're sick of looking like ghosts

Every single student I see looks luminescent from being so pale. The purple bags under our eyes don't help our ghostly appearances either. T-minus two weeks until everyone is tan, well-rested, and re-energized.

10. We need new scenery

I love my campus with my whole heart. It's one of the reasons I came to my school. However, I walk the same way to each of my classes and haven't seen anyplace new in over two months. Just getting a breath of fresh air away from our schools will be just as invigorating as having a break.

11. Nobody has time for this anymore

This just captivates everyone's attitudes towards the next two weeks. So please, spring break, have mercy on us and get here a little bit faster.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
