Don't pick a job with great vacation time. Pick one that doesn't need escaping from. Working at Paradise over the summer gave me some of the best experiences and the best of friends. I learned a lot individually by pushing myself and achieving things I never thought I could. I also leaned a lot from others from listening to their stories. This summer was full of a lot of laughs and I wouldn't have wanted to spend it any other way.

1. The atmosphere

The whole restaurant itself is in a really cool setting, it is outside and very laid back. Good vibes are flowing through the air on Paradise Island.

2. Live music

I love going to concerts, so it was pretty cool jamming out while I was working or coming in on days I was off to be a part of the crowd.

3. The people

Like every job, there are disagreements, but by the end of the summer my co-workers were like my family away from home.

4. Fireworks

With my old job, I used to miss the fireworks each year because I had to work every holiday. Working at Paradise gave me the best of both worlds. I could watch the fireworks while working.

5. Fun events

There were a lot of different events over the course of the summer. On multiple occasions there was a mechanical shark and to this day I still want to ride it.

6. Sunsets

Watching the sunset right off of the water has to be the most beautiful thing.

7. I met my best friend

My summer job gave me my best friend and I don't know what I would do without her.

8. The food

Whether it be salty or sweet, they have it! Between the actual menu, the marina, the ice cream shack, and the funnel cake shack, I never went hungry.

9. Exercise

Paradise gets pretty busy in the summer. I would have to carry a tray of food from our kitchen to around 988 seats, five different bars scattered across the restaurant, the beach, the stage, and even the playground. By the end of the summer I could walk anywhere.

10. The setting

There was no better experience then working alongside the water all summer.

11. Exciting

At some points it was so much fun it didn't even feel like work.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
