When choosing to get a pet, the choice can be difficult. Many people like cats because they are easy to take care of. However, I don't really like cats that much, so I would say they aren't the best pet to get. Others enjoy pets such as hamsters and guinea pigs, but those little guys freak me out sometimes. So, what pet would I suggest that you get? A dog. They're simply the best. But if you for some reason need a little convincing, here are 11 reasons you should choose to get a dog as your next pet.

1. They encourage you to stay in shape.

Everyone knows that when you have a dog, they need to get some sort of exercise. Whether you're doing it to keep them healthy, or to help them release some of that endless puppy energy, taking your dog out will force you to get exercise as well.

2. They keep you company.

If you live on your own, or are simply left alone for a few hours, your dog will be the best company. He will probably follow you around and make sure that you're never alone...even in the bathroom.

3. They teach you responsibility.

Dogs really depend on you. If you don't feed them, they won't eat, if you don't take them out, they're forced to hold it in for hours. Having a dog will teach you to keep a routine and have to care for someone other than yourself.

4. They help you make new friends.

If you've ever walked a dog, you know that people of all ages gravitate towards you. They always ask what kind of dog it is, and will probably want to pet it. This opens doors for you to talk to many new individuals, and can potentially be an outlet for you to make new friends.

5. They encourage you to relax.

Nothing compares to the feeling of laying in bed with a warm pup snuggled up next to you, all while watching your favorite Netflix series. While you may never want to get up and get stuff done, it's always nice to have someone who's down to just relax with you.

6. They will protect you.

Some dogs make for great alarm systems. You can teach them to bark at strangers and attack people who try to hurt you. Unfortunately some dogs are overly friendly, so they may not all serve this purpose. But they will protect you from making friends with the wrong people because if a potential friend doesn't like dogs, you know they aren't good people to make friends with.

7. They serve as your personal maid.

Cooking can sometimes get a little messy. If you happen to drop a few or maybe a lot of crumbs while you cook or eat, your pup will be very happy to help you clean it up.

8. They will always entertain you.

Dogs are very easily entertained. Simply watching them run around and chase their tail will keep you giggling at their silly antics. They also serve as grant playmates when you're bored.

9. They can be taught to fetch.

You may think this is simply a game for them. However, you can always teach your dog to fetch the remote, or maybe to fetch you a drink from the fridge. The possibilities are endless.

10. They are a great source of stress relief.

If you've ever played with a puppy, you will probably remember the warm fuzzy feeling you have during and after. Playing with dogs releases happy chemicals in your brain and is proven to relieve stress.

11. They can earn you some extra money on the side.

Disclaimer: Your dog must be extra cute. If you feel like you have a star on your hands, sign your dog up to be a model. Take some head shots at home and submit them. You never know, maybe your dog is the next Target spokes-dog.

Owning a dog is the best! If you're thinking of getting a new pet, I highly suggest you get a puppy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
