It's Florida State Homecoming Week. You (hopefully) have your wristbands for Pow Wow, and you're getting ready for the best Friday the 13th of your life -- the day Amy Schumer will entertain FSU's student body with her raunchy jokes at the Civic Center. As students, we are incredibly lucky to have a talented and popular comedian like Schumer visit us. Here are just a few of the reasons why.
1. She's a role model.
Why? Because she doesn't give a crap about what other people think. She says and acts however she wants without any shame.
2. She wrote and starred in her own movie.
Seriously, goals. If you haven't seen "Trainwreck," you should.
3. We're getting a great deal through FSU.
Elsewhere, you'd be paying $50 to see Amy on tour. Here, we get to see her for free, which is kind of unbelievable.
4. She's basically an adult with the mindset of a college student.
From what we've seen of Schumer, it's obvious she knows how to have a good time.
5. She has nothing to hide.
Whether she's giving a speech, performing stand-up, acting in a movie or on SNL, she holds nothing back. In a world where people get offended pretty easily, it's refreshing to see someone throw being appropriate out the window.
6. She's the best friend everyone wants.
Amy Schumer is the woman who would boost your confidence or tell you the truth -- bluntly. You know that she'd always be honest and fun to hang out with.
7. She's a woman with brains.
And she's not afraid to show it. Amy is intelligent and proves that women are smart, beautiful, and funny.
8. We could convince her to stay at Florida State.
Let's be real, Amy's intelligent yet knows how to party. FSU would be a perfect match.
9. She works hard.
She didn't get to write and act in "Trainwreck" without working hard. It's not easy being a comedian, let alone being a female comedian, so without a strong work ethic she wouldn't have the popularity she does today.
10. She hosted "Saturday Night Live."
SNL only brings top actors, musicians, and other public figures to host their show. To be chosen is an honor, and goes to show just how popular Schumer has become.
11. She's hilarious.
This is a given. I'm looking forward to a great end to Homecoming Week that will put us in the right mood to watch FSU beat NC State.
