New Orleans is a place of culture. It is a place of festivity. A place you will celebrate everything from a birth to a death. It is a place where you can find music playing on almost every block when you are in the French Quarter. You could go down Royal or Chartres and find art on every corner. It is a place where you could find a new favorite restaurant every night. With all of the culture coming together to make the most amazing cuisine in the world.

1. Natchez River Cruise

This wonderful dining establishment is quite unique. You eat in the dining room while the crew readies the steamboat to take you on a tour of the New Orleans river bank. You will eat off of a buffet that you will never forget. While you wait on your turn to go up and get food they take your drink order and you will have a plate of food waiting on you when you sit down. After dinner you can listen to the smooth jazz music on the top deck or you can sit in a more quiet setting on the bottom deck and hear the faint music and chatter from above. You can find a bar on both the bottom and top decks with wonderful bartenders.

2. The Crazy Lobster

The Crazy Lobster is a great place to sit and rest after shopping in the Riverwalk. You can eat the amazing and fresh seafood and enjoy a refreshing drink while you wait. You can enjoy their most popular seafood platter that can feed 3 people or one of their smaller platters. They have a full bar and signature drinks that you can enjoy.

3. Mulate's

Mulate's is a great gem to the community with their authentic Cajun food. You can order the Cajun Sampler that will feed you and another person as a meal. You can't go wrong with anything you order.

Drago's is a great establishment. They have food to fit any palate. It is a great place to go celebrate a birthday or promotion. They have oyster of any kind but their charbroiled oyster is always a crowd pleaser. Another hit is their Crabmeat Au Gratin. You can have it as a dip or on a lobster tail. Really you can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

6. Bayou Burger

Bayou burger is another great place to get a burger. They have a wide variety of them from classic to crazy and you can't go wrong with any. A favorite with the locals is the Gator burger. It is a ground alligator patty with pickled onions, coleslaw, tabasco mayonnaise on a brioche bun. It is served with their homemade chips or if you want you can substitute it with fries or jambalaya.

7. Pier 424

Pier 424 is a great place to go before you hit Bourbon Street. You can't go wrong with the appetizers from crabcakes, gator bits, or their amazing spicy crawfish lettuce wraps. You can always get started on the drinking by ordering a signature cocktail off of their cocktail and wine menu.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
