Hopefully I'm not alone on some of these.

11 Little Fears We All Have

It seems, that while we grow older and change, so do our fears... mostly. When we were five we were scared of the dentist and the loud flushing noise of a toilet, but now that were older were suppose to have real, more sophisticated fears, right? Like being afraid of failing an important exam, living on your own, trying to be an "adult," or just having to make your own doctor's appointments. Although, yes, those do become frequent fears of growing up, there are also little fears that we seem to never grow out of. Being an individual who is easily scared, here are just some everyday fears that I've found make even the bravest souls a little uneasy.

1. Closing your eyes to wash your face

We can all relate to this one. Those few seconds of pure vulnerability and darkness feel like eternity. You have two choices. Either keep your eyes open and set them on fire while risking possible blindness or close them and practically invite death into your bathroom. I'm pretty sure my eyes are immune to the acid-like burning by now.

2. Sneezing while driving

Me when I'm driving, and I know a sneeze is about to test my luck.

3. Letting your arm or leg hang off the bed

Me to all the demons right before they drag me off my bed, and into the depths of hell.

4. Thinking there was an extra step on the stairs

That heart-dropping realization of when you're walking up the stairs and you think there's one more step, and your foot just falls through the air.

5. Checking to make sure there is no one in the backseat of your car

When you're getting into your car at night, and you have to turn and make sure there still isn't a murderer in the backseat.

6. Checking grades

That endless feeling of watching the buffering sign spin around as you wait for Moodle to load.

7. Not remembering if you left something on/plugged in

This fear usually sets in when you're just going about your regular day and then out of nowhere the panic-filled question is asked. "Did I leave the __ on?" This often applies to things like an oven, stove, hair straightener, really just anything that has the potential to set your house into flames.

8. A seat belt buckle during the summer

When the metal part of the seatbelt just branded your skin, but you're trying to play it off.

9. But what if my alarm doesn't go off?

How you look after checking your phone for the 80th time to make sure you set your alarm for the right time and for a.m.

10. Reaching for your phone/keys/wallet and its not there

When you reach into your pocket and nothing is there, so you frantically pat down the rest of your body like a security guard.

11. Driving in student parking lots

Even though LSU has great parking (HAHAHAHHA so much sarcasm), parking can be very nerve wracking at times. There is usually 12 of us swarming around the parking lot desperately trying to find a spot, and it's every man for himself. Its like the freaking Hunger Games.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
