For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved kids. Throughout high school, I knew that regardless of the college I picked – I would major in a program that allowed me to interact with children every day for the rest of my life.
After almost seven months into a job as a lead teacher with one year olds… I can say it has changed me forever. I’m not the same person I was when I started, and I’ve learned that I’m teaching – but so are my kids.
11 Lessons Working At A Child Care Center Has Taught Me:
1. Don’t take life too seriously.
Laugh when you drop that bottle of paint and it splatters everywhere.
2. Always say I Love You.
You never know how much they hear it at home.
3. Take a daily vitamin.
Germs. Germs. Germs
4. Don’t stress the little things.
A paint or snot stain on your shirt can be washed out.
5. Kissing a boo-boo really does make it all better.
Instantly, the tears stop.
6. Children, even toddlers, are always listening.
They listen, and they repeat everything.
7. Mornings are tough.
Not just for you, leaving Mama or Daddy is never easy.
8. Toddlerese is definitely it's own language.
And i'm fluent. "Dowda? Yes, you can have some water sweetie."
9. Food is REALLY good.
Like, clean your plate and ask for “mo” good.
10. Naptime is glorious.
It can turn a whole day around.
11. Unconditional love.
No matter what, if you’re ANYTHING like me, you’re going to fall in love with a class of kids that aren’t your own blood.
