Being a big sister is one of the greatest jobs in the world. It is a huge blessing. It isn’t something that people can have any control over, but I wouldn’t trade being a big sister for the world. People come and go from our lives, but a sister is forever. Your younger sibling is stuck with you forever whether you like it or not. Sometimes it can be a tough job, but the good always outweighs the hardships. I love being a big sister.
1. You have a “mini-me.”
Having a little sister or brother means you have a younger version of yourself running around. If you are in a room together, people definitely know you are related.
2. You are a role model.
You may not realize it, but eyes are always on you. It’s a huge responsibility to set a good example for your younger siblings. They look up to you even if you don’t think so.
3. You have a partner in crime.
Sometimes to get what you want you need a partner in crime. A little brother or sister is the perfect go to person when you need a partner in crime.
4. You always have someone to talk to.
It doesn’t matter what time it is, you will always have someone to talk to. Even big sisters need someone to talk to, and a younger sibling can be the perfect person to talk to.
5. Someone will always have your back.
They may be younger, but they will still threaten to beat up anyone who hurts your feelings. They want the best for you just like you want the best for them.
6. There will always be a shoulder to cry on.
You can’t always be strong. Sometimes in life we have breaking points, and that is when it is perfect to cry on your siblings shoulder and let them comfort you. You know that they are there in love and will not judge you.
7. You will always have a cheerleader.
Your younger sibling probably thinks you are a rock star at every single thing you attempt in life, even if you are horrible at it. They will always be your biggest cheerleader because they believe in you even when you don’t believe in yourself.
8. You get to watch your younger sibling grow up.
You get to see every phase, from being a baby, the awkward phase, their shining moments and everything in between. You get to take pride in watching them pass milestones and achieve their goals.
9. You have someone to make memories with.
Family vacations wouldn’t be the same without making crazy memories with your little one. Plus it is a lot more fun to have someone other than your parents to hang out with.
10. You will never be alone.
You always have someone that you can turn to. They will be there to hang out, talk, FaceTime, go on adventures with and anything else you want to do. It doesn’t matter how far apart you are, you will have someone ready to be there for you.
11. You have a best friend forever.
Life changes, but family is stuck with you forever. Being a big sister means that you have a lifetime best friend. It is so great to know that you have someone that will be there for you forever.
