Packing for college is tricky. It seems that students either pack too much, never using a majority of what they bring, or they pack too little, resulting in things having to be brought to them or extra money having to be spent. Things are sometimes forgotten, or dismissed as being unnecessary, but whatever you end up bringing to school with you, make sure these are on the list.
1. A fan
Most residence halls or dormitories don't have any sort of air conditioning. This can make the first and last few months of school unbearable. When you're crammed in a room with two or three other people, things get sticky, sweaty, and the windows can only open up so much. A fan won't solve all of your problems, but it will certainly help!
2. Shower Shoes
Whatever they are: flip flops, crocs, sandals, you name it: do not forget them!! Showers can get pretty nasty, especially with countless other people using them as if they were their own.
3. Snacks
If you don't load up on snacks, you will soon regret it. There will be many nights that you're slammed with work, the dining halls are closed, or you're just to lazy to move. Those are the nights that you're chicken flavored ramen and fruit snacks will be your saving grace.
4. A Planner
It can get really overwhelming when you're trying to balance all your classes and assignments. Planners can help ensure that you have it all written down and organized, providing you use it right.
5. An Alarm Clock
Even though everyone's phone has a clock and an alarm on it, it's mot a bad idea to have a clock sitting around somewhere on your desk, visible at all times, and set a few extra alarms, just in case.
6. Deodorant
You may just forget about bringing deodorant, or you might not bring enough. In those first few weeks of school, it will be very important that you smell good and have back up deodorant in the heat.
7. Laundry Detergent
You have to do your own laundry now, and you kind of need laundry detergent to do it...
8. Enough socks and underwear
It's quite possible that you'll go weeks without doing your laundry, so for the sake of everyone, make sure you have enough socks and underwear to make it through these difficult times.
9. A power strip
No one wants to fight over the use of outlets. There's too much to plug in and not enough sockets for everything, but a power strip will allow much more use and cut down on unescessary conflict.
10. An extra pair of sheets
Jut in case... Anything can happen.
11. Reusable water bottles
To avoid having to buy water bottles all the time, make sure that you have a reusable one, so you can save money and fill it up wherever you go!
