There's always merchandise for fans of just about any fandom culture, but I think that there's some items that all female Batman fans should have. It's hard to find awesome Batman-based clothing sometimes, especially in women's sections of certain stores. Often, clothing stores will have darker items in men's sections, but more feminine items for women. When I look for Batman clothing, I want darker concepts depicted. I don't want pink with a black bat symbol. I want the Joker's face plastered to the front with a sinister grin stretching across it.
1. Jewelry
Many women in today's world wear jewelry, but for those of us who enjoy the nerd life, we need specialized jewelry to express our love of that specific fandom culture that we obsess over. Personally, I prefer earrings because they're low maintenance. Plus, tiny bat symbol earrings are adorable and nerdy all at once.
2. T-Shirts
There are always awesome Batman shirts in the men's sections of clothing stores. I don't understand why there are only pink ones in the women's section of Wal-Mart, but somebody needs to change that. The best selections for these amazing Tee's are found in Hot Topic and Spencer's. These stores often have darker themed shirts, which fans crave (and they have them specifically for women).
3. Leggings
This category may not apply to every woman, but for those of you who live in leggings, there are Batman printed ones floating around out there. These are harder to find in stores, but they're available online. Amazon and eBay are pretty decent with stocking this particular item. The one thing about Batman-themed leggings is that you can get all kinds of designs that are customized to villains, such as the Joker, Harley Quinn, and the Riddler. Now, there aren't as many demands for Poison Ivy and Two Face, but there still may be a chance that you could find something similar. For customized leggings, I would recommend searching Etsy. They always have amazing fandom based items.
4. Lanyards
This is perfect for college students. We all have keys and what's better than to keep them on a lanyard that's Batman-themed? There are also many places where these lanyards can be found. I recommend Hot Topic, Spencer's, Etsy, and eBay. I'm sure that they can be found at Wal-Mart as well, but there won't be as much variety in design like there would be at Hot Topic or Spencer's. I purchased my batman lanyard at Hot Topic, and its design is black and yellow with the bat symbol printed on it.
5. Water Bottle
What's the reason behind a Batman water bottle, you ask? Well, I constantly have trouble staying hydrated, so I carry a water bottle everywhere I go. It's an awesome way to show dedication and interest in Batman. It shows people that we prefer to drink the water of justice rather than plain tap water.
6. Shoes
Ladies, at some point in our lives, we all have a thing for shoes. For some of us, it's a constant obsession. So, why not mix it up and sport Batman-themed shoes? Yes, they may be a little more expensive, but that impulse buy will be worth it. There are many styles available: heels, flats, boots, and sneakers. Something for everyone. Again, Hot Topic supplied me with my Harley Quinn flats, which are the best invention ever. Easy to put on and comfortable no matter how long I'm in them.
7. Decor
This can include many different items, such as posters, pillows, and rugs, but the one thing that comes to my mind is a clock. A clock is an essential for just about anyone. Just imagine it hanging on the wall in your apartment and someone asks, "What time is it?" You can reply, "It's half past justice." That's the best reason to have a Batman clock in your possession.
8. Blankets
Being warm is important, especially during the winter or if you happen to live some place extremely cold. What would be better than having a blanket of justice to keep you warm? You can snuggle up in justice and watch Batman movies. You don't have to limit yourself to just the bat symbol design either. There are so many blanket designs out there that you can fawn over. After a while, you'll have at least 5 like I do.
9. Funko Pops
These are great gift ideas for children, but adults enjoy them as well. I have two funko pops that are from the Batman universe: Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. There are so many to choose from, which makes choosing one so much more difficult, but I still think they're worth it. Some people aren't into these items, but true Batman fans should have at least one of their favorite villain.
10. Kitchen/bathroom supplies
It can never hurt to have Batman invade your kitchen and/or bathroom. I have at least 5 Batman cups in my kitchen. It would be more if I could afford it. Consider all of the options: plates, cups, a toaster. The possibilities are endless. For a bathroom, you could have a shower curtain, towels, bath mat, toothbrush holder, etc. It would be the bathroom of justice. The same goes for the kitchen: kitchen of justice. Just imagine making Batman toast in your Batman toaster, serving up justice while sipping on orange juice from the Batman cup.
11. An Understanding Friend
When you have an obsession with Batman, you need a friend who understands all of the madness: the many dark references, the jokes, the excitement. This friend will most likely know as much as you do if they hang out with you long enough. My roommate and I have an unhealthy obsession with Batman. Our entire side of the apartment is decorated with posters and other decor items. We have blankets, clothing, and accessories to express our devoted interest. I have a Batman-themed shirt for every day of the week, if that's any indication of my madness. Plus, it's wonderful having someone to partake in the madness with you.
