As the end of August looms closer, the time is coming. The time to pack up your car and haul away for a new school year. Whether it is your first or your last, there's a certain mix of emotions everyone will face as they stare down the list of items to bring to campus for the fall. Though Steven and the Crystal Gems won't be heading to campus anytime soon, they sure know how to express these 11 emotions coming your way.

1. Excitement

You realize it's almost time to go to school, which means it's time to start packing! It's so much fun to prepare for that life away from home with your roommate(s), friends and favorite professors!

2. Motivation

As you write lists, gather supplies and dust off storage bins, you feel energy in your veins as you dig out all of those things you bought to bring to campus.

3. Distraction

Maybe it's a picture or a note that you saved from last year or something you totally forgot existed, but as you dig through your life's belongings, you forgot you were packing and lost sight of all of those boxes.

4. Overwhelmed

After playing with random things you found, you sit on the floor with mountains and piles around you and realize it's quite a bit to go before you can actually move in.

5. Discouragement

You start to think that oh god, you won't have everything packed before move in day and then what's gonna happen? You don't want to know.

6. Apathy

You give up on packing and go play video games, watch TV or take a nap. Anything to avoid the mess you'd started.

7. Spitefulness

Maybe your parents yelled at you, a friend posted a picture of all of their packed belongings or you caught your second burst of energy, but you're ready to take another go at the rest of the packing to do before the fateful day arrives.

8. Contentment

Maybe you have your favorite playlist on or you just found your groove again, but you're in the zone and ready for school. Maybe it was buying those new pens or that cute planner, but everything is falling into place again!

9. Boredom

At this point, you're just bored with packing. You start to ignore the menial things. Did I pack toothbrushes? Meh, I can buy those at the campus bookstore.

10. Desperation

With so few days left and so little left to pack, you start to get desperate and either forget certain items or over pack to the extreme. Desperation suddenly came out of the woodwork.

11. Achievement

You did it! With enough belongings to get you to your home away from home, you're ready for move in day!

Packing for college puts you on a roller coaster of emotions. Now to just lug it all up the stairs and put it away again...

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
