The 11 Emotional Phases of Sorority Recruitment

Winter break is a time for relaxing and forgetting school exists, but when your school has spring recruitment, going back can mean a lot more then just the stress of new classes. Going through sorority recruitment can be a truly wonderful experience, wherein you can learn so much about yourself, maintaining grace under pressure, and you might just find a group of people ready to welcome you home. Wether you are going through recruitment or are current member of a sorority getting ready to host hundreds of girls, the stress is universally felt.

1. What do I wear?!?

2. How will I talk to all these girls?

3. Finding the perfect outfit, finally, after calling your mom and asking everyone on your floor.


4. Bonding with the girls in your group.

5. Why is everyone smiling?

6. Having to repeat your hometown and major over and over.

7. Being unsure of what to do. Should I go over here? Should I eat the food? Do the Macarena?

8. Being so intimidated by a house full of girls.

9. You realize that everyone here is as stressed out and tired of walking around in heels as you are.

10. When you find someone in a house that you immediately hit it off with.

11. When you realize that you have found a house that you could be completely happy in.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
