Here at Spelman College, we are very dramatic. From symbolic bell ringings in the early morning to symbolize Founder's Day, to threatening to drop out of school because you got a B on a paper, it's never a sane moment here on campus. I'm pretty sure extra is a synonym for Spelmanite, but we make it work. In fact, there's one place where we lose all control. Where is that you might ask? In our Spelman sisters' Instagram comments. Although not limited to the sayings I will post below, here are 11 comments you will most likely see under your local Spelman sisters picture and some of my favorite comment sections as well

1. "YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"

Yes, all those extra s's are necessary. One big YAS doesn't showcase how much you really appreciate the picture.

2. "Pop Out Then!"

Give us what we don't have! You'll often find this comment under a Spelmanite's picture who decided to go all out for Market Friday. That lighting is hitting her just right, and you just can't help but comment.

3. "Were We Ready?"

The answer is always no. ALWAYS.

4. That Highlight !

Recently, the trend of highlighting has made its way into the makeup world. My Spelman sisters have learned quickly how to effortlessly perfect the art. Honestly, they turn one cheek and I'm automatically blinded by the highlight. What a wonderful world.

5. "My Edges !"

I honestly think its rude how my Spelmanites are always snatching edges. No warning, you just wake up, scroll down your Instagram feed, go look in the mirror, and your edges are gone. It's not fair, but we just slay that hard.

6. "Okayyy!!!!!"

The picture is always way more than okay. In fact its so bomb that we have no other words.

7. "Come Through"

Usually left under group photos. The photo was probably taken at hump or a random event we all felt the need to pop out for. When somebody says "come through," you KNOW in your heart that you looked good.

8. "That Melanin!!!!"

When the sun is out and the weather is warm, you can guarantee that you'll see about five comments just like this one.

9. "This is good"

One of the greatest stamps of approval. Point blank, period.

10. "You Are Everything!!!"

This is not a lie, you are.

11. "This is a Look."

Used for when your Spelman sister decides to show out with her outfit. You applaud her, mainly because all you could throw on was sweats this morning.

There are always a couple of more such as "thank you for blessing the TL", and "face BEAT." The creativity us Spelmanites have in the art of gassing is pretty phenomenal. We love to give our sisters support here at Spelman College. From words of encouragement on the way to class to Instagram comments, the sisterhood is indeed real. At least under the Instagram comments. If you want to feel poppin' for even just a second, go catch some light and post a selfie. I promise you'll be gassed.
