Raise your hand if the election is stressing you out right now?
Yep, that's what I thought.
The political aura surrounding the election is only getting more nerve-wracking and angsty for all parties involved. (Hey look, a pun!) The concept of who we are as a nation is blurring and the so-called political visionaries aren't helping us see anything clearly. Who are we as an American people? How should our country move forward?
The truth is I have no idea. (I encourage you to vote for the people that you think could best serve us and get us out of this mess.) However, here's a list of GIFs from classic American movies to cheer you up. I purposely picked movies from the "good old days" when Hollywood and America seemed to be on the same optimistic page.
1. The Wizard of Oz
Even in the Great Depression, Dorothy still believed in her dreams. Perhaps our "somewhere over the rainbow" is located across the Canadian border. ;)
2. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Maybe an idealistic young Jimmy Stewart will come out of nowhere and save Washington DC for us before November 8th.
3. It's A Wonderful Life
Maybe Jimmy Stewart's guardian angel named Clarence will save the day. Clarence Oddbody, Angel 2nd Class for Cabinet, anyone?
4. Singin' in the Rain

5. Singin' in the Rain
Maybe ignoring everything and blissfully Singin' and Dancin' in the rain is the solution until November 8th when we actually have to vote.
6. The Grapes of Wrath
But maybe Tom Joad's right. We can't ignore our problems as a country, so we need to talk about our problems.
7. Bringing Up Baby
At least our country's problems don't include two leopards on the loose in the Connecticut countryside. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
8. Jaws
Maybe we just need a bigger boat... or a shark hunter named Quint.
9. Roman Holiday
Maybe our candidates need to take a trip to Rome to put their hands into this statues lie-detecting month.
10. E.T.
It still would be nice to discover that we're all lost aliens who just need some kids to help us phone home.
11. Forrest Gump
Maybe we just need to listen to Forrest Gump's momma; the USA will turn out fine after November 8th because we're the American people with our own destiny together.
The USA will triumph just like Rocky no matter what happens after you vote on the 8th!
