As summer was coming to an end everyone, including myself, was torn about going back to school. Yes, you get to see your friends... but you have to leave the relaxing pool and beach to return to the not-so-relaxing, super stressful classroom. However, being back at school is better than you remember. So here are a few reasons as to why being back at school is not that terrible.

1. Friends.

Finally after a long summer apart, you are reunited with some of your favorite people. You get to catch up on stories and share old jokes.

2. Decorating.

New year means new dorm. You get to decorate and design your own home.

3. Independence.

NO MORE PARENTS! Because you are at school, you don't have to listen to them all the time. You get to chose your meals and choose what to do with your spare time.

4. Parties.

Because we are back at school, that means the party never stops. Whether it's a weekday or a week night, you can find people to party with.

5. Actual school.

We are in college to learn so we can have a future. Being here means we are one step closer to the rest of our lives.

6. Sports.

The spirit seen at each game is amazing. To watch and cheer on your fellow peers is so much fun.

7. Derby Day

Too bad we can't have Derby Day every weekend-- I mean, free corn every Saturday? A girl can dream.

8. Free food.

Well it's not really free because it is included in our tuition, but it is nice going to Starbucks and getting to pay with a magic meal or dinning dollars instead of "real" money.

9. Routine.

You get into a routine during the week and it's nice to have that constant feeling of, "hey I know what I'm doing!"

10. Not having to go to work everyday.

Most people I know, including myself, had a summer job, so it is nice to not have to clock in every day.

11. The faculty and staff.

They are so helpful and always want us to succeed. Whether it's the grounds crew making sure the grass is pristine, or your success coach, everyone does their best.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
