1. Free Summer Movies
Lots of people don't realize, but most city parks screen movies weekly, and the best part is it's for FREE! All you have to do is check out nycgovparks.org for a list of screenings. They play all types of films and sometimes the screenings are outside. So pick a day, grab a blanket, some snacks, and a friend.
2. Smorgasburg
If you're a foodie this is the place for you! Open every Saturday and Sunday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. is the Smorgasburg flea market located in Williamsburg, East River State Park on Saturdays, and Prospect Park on Sundays. There, you can find nearly 100 vendors with a variety of foods and drinks to enjoy.
3. Chelsea Exhibits
Feeling your inner Picasso? Need some inspiration? Grab a map of Chelsea and take a peek in all the amazing galleries. Most of them are free entry, and there's everything to please the eye. There you'll find a variety of artwork from traditional works, photography, paintings, prints, and sculpture.You can see some cool pictures for yourself!
4. Tour of the Secrets of Grand Central Terminal
Bet you didn't know they do tours in Grand Central Terminal, but now you do! So what are you waiting for? Go on a tour and learn the amazing secrets behind the beloved New York landmark.
5. Boozy Brunch
This isn't a guarantee everywhere, but it's becoming more popular in the city. Call up an old friend for brunch at a nearby restaurant for happy hour and enjoy unlimited drinks. What better way to catch up than over a friendly brunch.
6. NYC Restaurant Week
Every year around the end of July, NYC & Company gets together hundreds of restaurants for NYC Restaurant Week. This year from July 25 - Aug, 19 you can order a full three-course meal for brunch- $29 or dinner- $42.
7. ROCK MoMA Special
This is a deal you don't want to miss! For only $45 you can get same day tickets to see a variation of beautiful art in the Museum of Modern Art and gain access to the most beautiful view of New York City from TOP OF THE ROCK Observation Deck.
8. BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival
The summer would be incomplete without attending a concert, but prices often empty your pocket. So why not find a free show to enjoy in Prospect Park. The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival host a various number of events every summer at the Bandshell from music concerts, dance performances, and even spoken word and theater production. 9. Summer Rooftop Party
The city is known for its beautiful skyscraper view so why not enjoy a night up on top. Find out which friend of a friend is planning a rooftop party and crash. With summer here you'll hear more and more people booking hotel and bar rooftops for events. Just make sure you're there to enjoy the views.
10. City Kayaking
When you imagine kayaking you probably think of rough waters and dangerous rocks waiting ahead, but not here in New York City! Pick a day to spend with friends and paddle your way around the city to find the most beautiful views there are. Just head out to Pier 96 at 56th Street in Hudson River Park any Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.–6 p.m. for a free 20 minutes adventure.
