If you're a '90's kid, you were young when YouTube started becoming a household name. The website was created in 2005, and it quickly took over the online, video-sharing world. It has been almost 11 years to the day since the first YouTube video was posted, and it is safe to say that the website has come a long way. YouTube is the go-to video sharing site for the entire world, and it seems like there's literally a YouTube video for anything you can think of. Since YouTube started, people born in the 1990's were the first generation of kids to ever be exposed to this kind of online video sharing. We were all there for the first ever viral videos, some of which we will never forget.
1. "David After Dentist"
"David After Dentist" was posted in early 2009. The video is of a kid named David who clearly got plenty of laughing gas at the dentist. The entire 2 minute video is of David asking questions and screaming while his dad rolls the camera. As of this month, this video has over 132 million views. How much laughing gas did they give him? We'll never know. But the real question is, "Is this real life?"
2. "Fred Goes Swimming"
Let's be honest, we all used to watch Fred. "Fred Goes Swimming" was posted in 2008 to the iconic "Fred" channel, and it was one of many that "Fred Figglehorn" posted in the late 2000's. His channel eventually became the first ever username to reach 1 million subscribers, and this video currently has over 66 million views. Looking back on it, I don't know how we didn't go crazy listening to that voice.
3. "Evolution of Dance"
Posted in 2006, this video was one of the earliest viral videos on YouTube. Judson Laipply stars in the video "Evolution of Dance," in which he dances to a 30 song mash-up that spans songs from five decades. He begins with Elvis Presley and finishes with Jay-Z. He dances his heart out on stage and that is definitely worth more than the video's over 295 million views that it has today.
4. "Potter Puppet Pals: The Mysterious Ticking Noise"
"What is that mysterious ticking noise?" Well, we don't find out until the end of the video, but this one is a classic. Posted in 2007, any '90's kid who's a Harry Potter fan has definitely watched this. The puppet show in this video features a cast of familiar characters, including Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Snape, Harry Potter and Voldemort, who are all singing about a mysterious ticking noise. As of March 2016, this video has over 166 million views. "Snape... Snape.. Severus Snape... DUMBLEDORE!"
5. "The Sneezing Baby Panda"
The shortest video on this list makes the loudest noise. Posted in 2006, this 16 second video is pretty simple: two pandas are sitting in a cage when suddenly the baby panda creates the loudest sneeze anyone has ever heard. To accompany the freakishly loud sneeze, the adult panda's reaction is absolutely priceless. "The Sneezing Baby Panda" currently has over 219 million views, and it is definitely worthy of them.
6. "Numa Numa"
This video speaks for itself. Nobody really knows what this song is actually saying because it's in Romanian, but everyone can agree that "Numa Numa" is a legend. Not only were we all jamming out to the catchy song, but the guy in the video's dance moves get you every time. Numa Numa has racked up 23 million views from the time of it's publication in 2006, to now.
7. "Chocolate Rain"
Tay Zonday posted this video of him singing his original song, "Chocolate Rain," in 2007. The video is known not only for the lyrics, which don't really make a lot of sense, but for Tay's periodic movement away from the microphone to take a breath. Tay Zonday still posts videos, and his song Chocolate Rain currently has 107 million views since its posting.
8. "Bed Intruder Song"
This video's a weird one, and it's toward the end of our YouTube era. Posted in 2010, this video showcases a song that was made out of a man named Antoine Dodson's words from a news interview. The story is that after he saved his sister from an attack in Alabama, he got interviewed for the local news outlet and he said some hilarious comments. Eventually, someone took his interview and remixed it into a song, because what else would we expect from the people of the internet? "Bed Intruder Song" currently has 131 million views.
9. "Charlie Bit My Finger"
Okay, you had to be living under a rock to have never seen this one. "Charlie bit my finger" currently has a whopping 836 million views making it one of the most viewed videos on the site excluding music videos. It was posted in 2007, but it's still gaining views almost 9 years later. Based on the description (which was updated in 2012), Harry is nearly thirteen now, and Charlie is eleven. The boys now have two younger brothers named Jasper and Rupert.
10. "Double Rainbow"
"Whoa, it's a double rainbow..." Posted in 2010, this video has 42 million views; but a lot of people don't really understand why. The video is of a double rainbow that was above Yosemite Bear Mountain, and yes, the rainbow is beautiful, but the man behind the camera's reaction is what makes this video so amusing. He is heard talking about the rainbow's beauty, and is eventually moved to tears. While you never see the man behind the camera, we all hope that he gets to see a double rainbow again soon.
