1. Plan. Plan. Plan.
You will find out that with assignments mixed with clubs and social events, it can get busy really fast. Make sure you plan your time wisely and don't spread yourself too thin.
2. Color code everything.
Buy different colored pens and highlighters and come up with a color coding system that works best for you. This makes things easy to find when looking back on notes.
3. Start study groups with people in your classes.
If you aren't understanding something, chances are someone will. Ask for help, it will only improve your grade in the long run. Groups are a good way to see different ways of note taking and make sure you didn't miss anything.
4. Gain a fresh perspective.
If you are always studying in the same place and discover it is not working, feel free to switch things up. Don't get too stuck into a routine and try new places to study.
5. Keep your room clean.
If your room is organized, your mind is organized and good things will happen.
6. Get some sleep.
Sleep is essential. Don't put things off until late at night and miss out on sleep. Life is busy, but getting a good night of sleep is better than being tired and cranky before your 8 a.m.
7. Stay on top of assignments.
Assignments will add up quickly and if you don't stay on top of them, things get bad. Make sure you keep track of due dates and do homework ahead of time if you have free time.
8. Treat your syllabi like a bible.
This is where all the important facts that make up the class are. It is so important to read carefully and always keep checking it for upcoming dates.
9. Make time to work out.
As easy as it is to eat junk food and drink soda, please take time to work out. The freshman fifteen is no fun and being healthy is.
10. Make this your motto: "Work hard, play hard."
Although school is why you are here, be sure to get out and have some fun with your friends when your homework is done. After all, college is all about the experiences you gain.
