Here we are again starting off a new semester with a fresh start. We always say we want this semester to be the best one yet, but we are just not quite sure how to accomplish that. Starting off the semester strong and then maintaining that is the ultimate key to success. So here are some tips on how to start off your semester on a good foot:
1. Set goals
Set goals in every part of your life that you are looking to improve. The key is to not set totally impossible goals, but goals that you can achieve and would feel proud of.
2. Eat better
This means something different for everyone. It could mean you need to eat more, less, or just healthier. Whatever eating better means to you figure it out and create some type of plan that sets you on the right path.
3. Exercise
You should have known this was coming right after eating better. Exercise can be as simple as taking a walk or as intense as cross fit. Find the exercise that makes you happiest and go for it whether it is going to the gym or taking a dance class.
4. Focus on school
Make this semester your smartest yet. Set up a study schedule and really commit yourself to acing all your classes this semester. You will feel incredible when you see your name on Dean's List.
5. Excel at work
Whether you have to work, study, an internship, a real job, or you just babysit you have to commit to it. It is easy to start feeling like work is becoming monotonous but if you really put your all into it, you will get way more out of it.
6. Manage your money
We always seem to start of the semester with ample money from holiday gifts or working over break, but less than a month in we find ourselves running dry. You have to watch how you are spending your money and make sure what you are spending is equal to what you are making.
7. Organize
There is no better way to start off the semester than being super organized. Clean your room and reorganize everything so that you are extra prepared for whatever the semester throws at you. If your life is a mess, at least your space will be put together.
8. Make new friends
With a new semester comes new classes and with that comes new classmates. Use this opportunity to make new friends. These friends will also end up being very useful if you miss a class or you are looking for a study buddy.
9. Enjoy your extra-curriculars
College students are often seen running around campus in a frenzy because of their jam-packed schedule. When you really think about it the student creates this frenzy for themselves by putting all of the responsibilities on their own plate. We do all of these activities because we want to. So this semester, take some time to enjoy what you are doing and if you are doing too much get rid of the things that you don't care about so that you have more time to devote to what you truly enjoy.
10. Be self-sufficient
As a young adult rapidly emerging into the real world it is important to be self-sufficient. Starting doing things for yourself in college will only help you in the long run and you will have a great sense of accomplishment.
