1. Give yourself time

Feelings of grief are normal after a loss. There are different stages of grief (DABDA) and eventually, you will go through all of them. Giving yourself time to heal and process the loss, over time you will learn how to move forward.

2. Self - care

If you feel yourself falling apart or just not feeling like your best self, do something about it. Go to the gym, meditate, and eat healthy. Practicing self-care is the best thing you can do for your mental and physical health. Don't forget to enjoy cravings like cake, too.

3. Seek support

Whether it is your family or a therapist, it is important to talk to someone about your grief.

4. Be Active

Distracting yourself or participating in hobbies that your find comfort in can be a way of healing from grief for many. Such as, watching old movies, doing sports, or playing music.

5.Support Groups

If your loss has strongly impacted your life and left with intense grief, remember there are others out there that are experiencing the same pain you are going through.

6. Refrain From Heavy Use of Drugs or Alcohol

Mind altering substances will help for a little while, but eventually, lead to health complications and worsening of grief feelings.

7. Change Your Thoughts

Negative thinking is common when grieving, Change that negative thought into a positive one.

8. Faith

For some, finding a spirit to look to for answers brings peace and guidance. It helps in many ways with accepting the loss and learning to keep going.

9. Remembrance

Take time with family to look through old photos or ponder on old memories of your loved one.

10. The Future and Growth

When grieving, it's hard to believe things will improve, but they will. Every day that you continue to grieve, just know each day you're going through the process. Eventually the grief will subside and your future will improve. Accepting the loss can lead to self growth and learning more about yourself.
