1) Put down the homework for an hour.
Set your cell phone timer to one hour and click start. Use this free time to do anything you feel like doing. This time is one-hundred percent yours. All you have to do is forget school work for sixty minutes. This method allows for you to do things you previously were unable to do because of stress either from classes or just school in a general whole.
2) Get food with friends.
Food is always a nice stress reliever. Take a night or two out of the week to go somewhere for dinner off of the campus grounds with your friends. You'll relax, eat some food, and likely forget about whatever was stressing you out. My friends and like to go to the Chinese Buffet up the street.
3) Visit home.
If you don't live too far away from your real house, it can lower your stress levels if you visit once in a while. It's nice on really stressful days to go home because of how the normality of the situation makes your mind stop thinking so hard and how the comfort of something you know well just relieves a lot of stressful thoughts. Maybe you have a pet there to put your mind at ease or you just like the feeling of security in your own room. Either way, it's a nice was to de-stress.
4) Take a nice, long, hot shower.
You'd be surprised how relaxed and clear your mind will be after taking a crazily long shower. Turn up the steam, bring in some of your favorite music, and forget about time because you deserve this.
5) Sleep!
Honestly, just take a quiet nap right before you do anything. You'll feel rejuvenated and well-rested afterwards and possibly realize that what you were preciously stressed about wasn't worth stressing over at all.
6) Get lost on Netflix.
Netflix has thousands of television shows for you to waste your life on-- and trust me I've done my share. But it really does get rid of stress to just watch a new television show of your choice for an entire day. Maybe you'll even get hooked on it, who knows. What is certain is that it will help you forget your college worries and focus on someone else's life through a show.
7) Take a walk alone.
Being alone really helps relieve stress. Sometimes you just need a long break from being around other people, especially if they're some of the reasons you're as stressed as you are. Try taking a stroll at any part of the day, but you'll probably be more alone at night. Just be sure to be safe!
8) Meditate.
Yes, meditation. I know that it sounds weird but it actually works. I was recommended to do this by my boyfriend when I was complaining how stressed I was. I did it for one hour and felt pleasantly relaxed. I didn't know why meditating actually worked.
9) Learn a new hobby.
If you learn something new to do with your day when you have free time then it's really likely that you'll become less stressed. If the hobby you find and learn makes you happy then your stress levels will go down each time you do whichever hobby you chose. This hobby could be in music, writing, games, or maybe even puzzles.
10) Talk to someone.
The simplest way to get rid of all the stress you're feeling is to just tell someone. Let someone know what's in your head because venting to someone who is really listening to you can truly improve how you feel and lessen the stress levels you have. It's completely okay to ask to talk to someone seriously and no one should ever feel ashamed telling a friend about why they're stressed because a true friend will listen to you.
I hope this list will help everyone who is currently enrolled in school and feeling intensely stressed. Just remember that you'll make it through this, and you'll make it through all the stress that happens in your life. Everything will be okay, you just need to get through it all.
