This time of year is hard for students; it is filled with the stress of exams, hectic holiday planning, and the normal rush of being in college. With this in mind, I compiled a quick list of things that you can do to help clear your mind and calm your soul.
1. Open the Windows, Go Outside
I know, I know. This one can seem pretty cliché considering how often it's thrown around. Still, give it a try, I promise it really works. Breathe in the fresh air and breathe out the bad. It can cleanse your soul and leave you feeling brand new.
2. Rainymood.com
This website has gotten me through many late night cramming sessions. It brings you the therapeutic sound of rainfall without the hassle of being stuck in the downpour. I recommend playing music while you listen. It creates a cozy atmosphere in your space that will definitely leave you feeling rejuvenated.
3. Spotify Playlists
I'm sure you all know of spotify by now; well, did you know that there are hundreds of playlists that specifically cater to certain moods? You can simply type in whatever mood you're currently feeling and there's sure to be a playlist made just for you!
4. Keep a Journal
Now this is my personal favorite way to unwind. I have about ten different journals, keeping at least one on my person at all time. There's just something about writing in a little black book that lifts the weight of the world off of your shoulders.
5.Write a Letter to Yourself
Take all of the stress of your life in this moment and tell your future self all about it. Sit down with a pen and piece of paper and just let all of your thoughts pour out. Give it a few days, a few months, a few years, and then read it. You'll realize that all of the things you were worried about were not that big of a deal. You made it.
6.Read a New Book
Start a new book! It always helps to take your mind off of the bleaker things in life. Get lost in a world crafted from scratch.
7. Coloring Books
Coloring books are becoming a popular means of letting out your frustration. Maybe they bring out the child in us, or maybe they're just a good way to take your mind off of the adult world. Whatever it may be, these coloring books are the way to go! Buy your own here.
8. Sing Along to Your Favorite Song
Singing, regardless of the quality of your voice, is a great way to let off steam! Take a drive and scream along to the lyrics of your favorite song. Just be yourself, and don't take yourself too seriously. You'd be surprised by how much it can help.
9. Night Drives with Good People
Night drives are one of the best ways to relax an unwind. Pair that with good company, and you're all set! Who knows, maybe you can pair this up with singing to your favorite song. It's be a great opportunity to grow closer to your friends.
10. Treat Yourself
Here's one that we all struggle with. Allow yourself the simpler pleasures in life. This really takes the edge off of the stress that comes along with final exams. Buy that new bag, those cute boots, or simply take the time off to apply a face mask.
